Rainy weeks are a good time to notice the little home issues that are easy to miss when everything feels fine.

A few quick checks worth doing this week:

✅ look for damp patches around windows and ceilings
✅ check for condensation that keeps coming back
✅ look under sinks for small leaks
✅ check around windows and doors for draughts or water getting in
✅ check your heating still comes on properly if you need it

These small signs are worth catching early because damp, leaks, poor insulation and heating issues can become much more expensive and disruptive if they’re left too long.

Not the most exciting five minutes of your week, we know. But very much worth it.

The UK gets one warm day and suddenly we all do the same routine.

→ Open every window.
→ Move the fan around.
→ Talk about how badly we slept.
→ Say “we’re not built for this” at least once an hour.

💡 Before the warmer weather properly settles in, one useful thing to do is this:
check which room in your house still feels warm at bedtime after a sunny day.

That’s usually the room that’s going to become the biggest problem later on, especially for sleep.

It’s a simple test, but it tells you a lot more than waiting until the first sticky night and suffering through it.

You know when the fan is on full blast, making a tremendous effort, and the room still feels exactly the same?

💡 Tip: Use the fan near an open window in the cooler part of the day, so it helps move fresh air through the room instead of just pushing warm air around.

Because sometimes the problem is not the fan.
It’s the fact the whole room is already full of warm air.

And expecting one brave little fan to sort that on its own is asking a lot.
