Another project successfully completed.

This week, the site container was collected from our Fairford project, marking the completion of AGA Heritage Conservation's package of works to restore the building's external envelope for Acorn Property Group.

Over the course of the project, our team has delivered:
✔ A new natural slate roof
✔ Extensive stone façade conservation and repairs
✔ Traditional conservation techniques to protect the building's historic character

With our work now complete, it's fantastic to see the next phase already taking shape as the external fit-out progresses.

We're proud to have played our part in preserving this historic building and look forward to seeing the finished development come to life.

Thank you to Acorn Property Group and everyone involved in another successful heritage restoration project.

There's nothing quite like the moment the scaffolding starts to come down.

At Charles Williams Primary School, the building's character is beginning to shine through once again. The beautifully crafted arched sash windows, restored cast iron rainwater goods, fresh lime plaster and breathable KEIM mineral paint finish are transforming the appearance of this historic building while respecting its original design.

Behind the scenes, work continues with the careful removal of the existing cement render from the front elevation, allowing the building to breathe as it was originally intended. At the same time, our joinery team is crafting bespoke replacement dormer windows to match the original design and preserve the building's architectural character.

Every stage of this project demonstrates how traditional craftsmanship and modern conservation techniques work together to protect our built heritage for future generations.

We're looking forward to sharing more progress as the restoration continues.

Project Update – Metal Street

The contemporary extension at Metal Street is really starting to take shape.

While much of our work focuses on preserving historic buildings, successful conservation is often about finding the right balance between old and new. This carefully designed extension will provide modern, functional space while complementing and respecting the character of the original building.

As the restoration progresses, it's exciting to see the historic fabric and contemporary elements come together to create a building that honours its past while embracing its future.

More updates to follow as this transformation continues.

The Details Matter

The team has been busy at Metal Street, carefully removing layers of old paint and restoring the building's original brass fittings.

It's often the smaller details that tell the story of a historic building. Through patient craftsmanship and attention to detail, these historic brass features are being brought back to life, revealing the quality and character that has been hidden for many years.

Conservation isn't just about preserving buildings—it's about preserving the features and craftsmanship that make them unique.

Charles Williams Primary School – Behind the Restoration

This room at Charles Williams Primary School is a great example of the work taking place behind the scenes as part of the wider restoration project.

The space has been carefully stripped back, allowing us to remove cement render and restore the building using traditional materials while incorporating modern safety and performance requirements.

Works undertaken include:

🔹 Removal of cement render
🔹 Installation of bespoke timber windows
🔹 New fire and smoke protection measures
🔹 Fire cavity barriers and compartmentation works
🔹 Soundproofed ceilings
🔹 Traditional lime plaster walls
🔹 Bespoke joinery

It's always rewarding to see historic buildings being carefully adapted for the future while preserving the character and craftsmanship that make them special.

Project Update – Eastgate, Cowbridge

Great progress is being made at Eastgate, and the transformation is already starting to show.

The roof has been renewed using a combination of salvaged Welsh slate from the original building and carefully selected reclaimed slate, helping to preserve the property's historic character while ensuring long-term performance.

The existing cement render has now been stripped away, allowing the building to breathe once again and preparing the walls for the application of traditional lime render coats.

It's always rewarding to see a heritage building begin to reveal its true character once more – and this project is already looking better by the day.

Investing in Skills & Safety

We're delighted to announce that we now have 17 qualified First Aiders across the company.

At AGA Heritage Conservation, continuous training and development remain a key part of our commitment to safety, professionalism, and looking after our people.

At AGA Heritage Conservation, we specialise in the careful restoration of historic façades — from stone, brick, and terra cotta repairs to sensitive repointing and cleaning.

Façades are the first impression of a building, and over time, weather, pollution, and poor repairs can take their toll. Our team combines traditional craftsmanship with modern conservation techniques to revive original details, strengthen the structure, and ensure durability for future generations.

With every project, our goal is to reveal the beauty of the past while protecting the integrity of the building for years to come.
