We recently inspected and serviced two ageing air conditioning systems at a veterinary practice in Chester-le-Street, County Durham.

As part of the service, we checked the refrigerant line temperatures, measured the air temperatures across the indoor and outdoor units, inspected the equipment and assessed the overall system performance.

Our testing highlighted areas requiring attention, allowing us to give the customer clear and honest recommendations for keeping the systems operating reliably.

🔥 Full Heating System Conversion Complete

This system conversion is now fully completed, flushed, tested and commissioned.

We removed the outdated back boiler system and restrictive microbore pipework before installing a new Worcester Bosch Greenstar 1000 combi boiler, upgraded heating pipework and new radiator valves throughout the property.

To finish the installation properly, we carried out a thorough system flush to remove remaining debris and protect the new boiler. The system was then treated with inhibitor to help prevent future corrosion and sludge build-up.

The customer now has a cleaner, more efficient heating system with improved performance, dependable hot water and modern controls.

🔥 Back Boiler Days Are Numbered

We’ve started a major heating upgrade, stripping out an ageing back boiler system and the existing microbore pipework ready to bring the whole system up to date.

Going in is a new Worcester Bosch Greenstar 1000 combi boiler, along with new central heating pipework and radiator valves throughout the property.

This is a proper system conversion — not simply replacing the boiler and leaving decades-old pipework behind.

🔥 Big Heating Upgrade Underway in Consett!

This old Baxi has done its time and is now coming out as part of a full central heating upgrade we’re carrying out for a customer in Consett.

This one goes well beyond simply swapping the boiler. The property currently has ageing microbore heating pipework, so we’re stripping that out and upgrading the system properly.

The work includes:

🔧 New Worcester Bosch Greenstar 1000 30kW combi boiler
🔧 Removal of the existing microbore pipework
🔧 Full central heating re-pipe with new pipework throughout
🔧 New radiator valves throughout
🔧 System protection
🔧 Full commissioning, testing & safety checks

By tackling the older microbore pipework at the same time as the boiler replacement, we can leave the customer with a much more modern and serviceable heating system rather than connecting a brand-new boiler onto ageing pipework.

🔧 Worcester Boiler – Full Works Service in Newcastle

This Worcester boiler had one of our ‘The Full Works’ boiler services in Newcastle, including replacing the electrodes and gasket as part of the maintenance.

We hear plenty of engineers moan about servicing these particular Worcester boilers… but we actually quite enjoy them. 😂

They’re a bit more involved than some boilers, but when you take your time, follow the correct procedure and do the job properly, they’re a solid appliance to work on.

A proper boiler service isn’t just a quick check with an analyser. We inspect the components that matter, clean where required, check combustion and safety, and replace worn parts before they have the chance to cause problems.

🔥 System Conversion Completed in Durham

We’ve just finished this system conversion as part of a much larger full-house renovation project in Durham.

The property was running an older system with a hot water cylinder, header tanks and existing boiler. We removed the old equipment and converted the property over to a 40kW Worcester Bosch Greenstar 8000+ combi boiler, giving the customer a modern heating and hot water setup ready for when the renovation is complete.

As part of the installation we:

🔧 Removed the old boiler, cylinder and header tanks
🔥 Installed a Worcester Greenstar 8000+ 40kW combi
🔩 Routed a new, larger gas supply to meet the requirements of the new boiler
🧲 Installed a magnetic system filter
💧 Fitted a scale reducer and shock arrestor
🚿 Flushed the heating system and radiators to make sure everything was clean and circulating correctly
✅ Fully tested and commissioned the new boiler

This one threw us a bit of a curveball. The planned route for the new gas supply was obstructed by an old safe surrounded by reinforced concrete. Rather than compromise the installation, we returned once it had been removed and completed the gas run properly.

The boiler is now fully commissioned and ready for the electrician to connect it into the new fused spur as the rest of the renovation progresses.

Projects don’t always go exactly to plan, especially on full-house renovations. For us, it’s about taking accountability, adapting when needed and making sure the finished job is done properly.

A few of the designer radiators we’ve installed recently for customers across Newcastle and Consett.

🔥 A good example of why boiler servicing is about more than just checking the boiler fires up.

We pulled this magnetic filter apart during a boiler service in Newcastle and found it packed with sludge.

It’s either been a while since it was last cleaned or there’s a fair amount of contamination in the heating system — either way, catching things like this is all part of looking after the boiler and the system properly.
