Today's job, swapped out an inefficient balanced flue boiler for a new condensing Vaillant 415. Power flushed the system and fitted a magnetic filter to protect the boiler.

Another sub-contract job for British Gas. Removed an old Potterton Prima, not before time looking at the scorch mark on the rear of it. Fitted a Vaillant 430 with upgraded gas pipe and system flush.

Just replaced a 20yr old floor standing boiler with a new Worcester, replaced the primatic cylinder and upgraded the system to a fully pumped y-plan. Should save them a few quid on their gas bills.

Just in time as the old flue had completely rusted through!

From this April any new boiler installation will need to adhere to an updated set of regulations.

What's changing?

Called Boiler Plus, the new regulations mean that all boilers installed from April 2018 will need an ErP efficiency rating of 92% or higher, they must also include a programme timer and a thermostat so that you can effectively control your heating. While the majority of homes do have this, it wasn’t a requirement until now.

Also, every combi boiler installation must also include one additional energy-saving measure. You will be able to select at least one of the following energy-saving measure:-

1. Flue gas heat recovery systems.
2. Weather Compensation.
3. Load Compensation.
4. Smart controls featuring automation and optimisation functions.
