It's National Careers Week, and we’re helping students build the confidence and skills they need for the green jobs of the future.

🎥 With Veloce, we have launched ‘Building your potential’, a new set of short videos and classroom activities available free through our New Energy Academy. The resource shares real stories from athletes in motorsport, rugby, netball and parasport, as well as engineers who talk about their journeys into STEM and the practical skills shaping the clean energy transition across the UK.

Across five quick and ready-to-use sessions, students explore skills like staying calm under pressure, adapting to change, teamwork, resilience and confidence. These are qualities that matter whether you are on the track, on the pitch or in an engineering workshop.

Teachers can access everything for free including curriculum-aligned activities designed to support real-world learning and career confidence. 📘

📈 Schools already using the New Energy Academy say it is making a real difference. Teachers describe the programme as “transformative”, “confidence-building” and “a spark for future ambition.”

We’re proud to have supported Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice in raising £46,088 through its Christmas tree recycling scheme.

As the charity’s sustainability partner, we helped ensure the trees collected were recycled or repurposed. Many were used to generate electricity at our Blackburn Meadows biomass plant in Sheffield, turning a simple seasonal action into practical local impact.

This is the second year running we’ve supported this fantastic initiative which truly reflects our commitment to both sustainability and the community. We’re delighted the scheme has once again raised so much money for this incredibly worthwhile charity.

Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice is celebrating the continued success of its Recycle Your Christmas Tree campaign, which returned for its eighth consecutive year and raised £46,088 to support local children and families.

Hearing directly from students reminds us why green skills education matters.

Young people taking part in New Energy Academy activities share what green skills mean to them — from making everyday choices that support sustainability, to understanding how they can help create a better world for people and the planet.

Through New Energy Academy resources, students aged 11–18 are developing skills such as:
• Creative problem solving
• Critical thinking
• Empathy and teamwork

These skills help young people connect classroom learning with real-life challenges and build confidence in their ability to make a positive impact.

Last year, we visited North Wembley Technical College to deliver a New Energy Academy workshop that inspired students to think about the role they can play in shaping a sustainable future.

The New Energy Academy provides free classroom resources for students aged 11–18, helping them to:
• Identify their strengths
• Explore green career opportunities
• Build skills that will make a real difference in the world

We believe that introducing future-focused employability skills early gives students the confidence and knowledge they need to pursue meaningful careers and contribute positively to society.

New research from E.ON Next shows that two in five (41%) people agree that grassroots clubs need help to cut their energy bills.

What’s more, 42% of people in England think it’s important local clubs are on the right energy tariff to help them save costs.

That’s where E.ON Next and England Football’s programme is making ground, as four pioneering grassroots clubs, have cut their energy use by up to 25% over the last year.⚡

Clubs like Shefford Sports Club, Staveley Miners Welfare FC, Bingham Town FC and Moulton Football Club have collectively saved almost £10,000 by making sustainable upgrades as part of the Greener Game.

And this week, a new initiative designed for English Football Association grassroots clubs, means eligible clubs can receive up to £100 in bill credit when they switch to E.ON Next’s Small Business Tariff.
