✈️ Fresh from overhaul — B747 Main Wheel

Another piece of classic aviation hardware restored and ready for its next chapter. There’s something impressive about seeing components built for one of aviation’s most iconic aircraft brought back to serviceable condition.

💡 Fun fact: The B747’s main landing gear was designed to spread the aircraft’s enormous weight across multiple wheels. The B747 has 16 wheels across its four main landing-gear assemblies, plus two nose wheels.

Stopping power, up close. ✈️🔥

These Boeing 777-200 carbon brake assemblies use multiple carbon discs to absorb the enormous energy generated during landing and high-energy stops. All while keeping weight down compared with traditional metallic brakes.

💡 Fun fact: Carbon aircraft brakes are designed to thrive in extreme heat. In maximum-energy testing on the 777 family, brake temperatures can exceed 2,500°F (1,370°C).

Big airplane. Serious brakes. 🛬

☕✈️ Behind the scenes🔧

It may not be the first aircraft component that comes to mind, but it still plays an important role onboard!

Our technicians recently stripped down this aircraft coffee maker for inspection and repair, ensuring it’s ready to keep the coffee flowing at 35,000 feet.

Fun fact: Aircraft coffee makers are designed to operate safely amid vibration, changing cabin conditions and demanding electrical requirements, far more challenging than anything your kitchen coffee maker has to contend with!

Of course, an aircraft can technically fly without coffee… but where’s the fun in that? 😄☕

As the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic, she broke barriers and inspired generations to dream bigger, fly further, and challenge the impossible. Her legacy continues to inspire everyone across the aviation industry, from pilots and engineers to the teams working behind the scenes to keep the world flying safely.

🛟 Ready when it matters most.

Every liferaft that enters our workshop is thoroughly inspected, leak tested, and fitted with replacement life-limited components where required. When it comes to safety equipment, every detail matters.

💡 Fun Fact: Aircraft liferafts are built to withstand harsh marine environments and are packed with survival essentials, including signalling equipment, repair kits, and emergency rations.

And yes... they do look like a great place for an afternoon nap—but we'd much rather they never have to be used. 😄

🔍 The smallest details make the biggest difference. ✈️

Before an HT cylinder is approved for return to service, it undergoes a detailed internal and external visual inspection to ensure it meets all regulatory and airworthiness requirements.

💡 Fun fact: Passing a hydrostatic pressure test isn't enough. A cylinder must also pass a visual inspection, as corrosion, structural defects, and internal damage may not be detected by pressure testing alone.
