MEET THE TEAM
**Stephen Moor 🔝**
Stephen is the owner of the company and has been ever since he set the company up in 1985. Prior to this, he was a self-employed bricklayer.
Throughout his forty plus years at the helm of the company, Stephen has manoeuvred the company through some difficult times due to the economic climate of the country but has always ensured the company has survived without the need to start again under another name. This is why the company celebrated their 40 year anniversary recently with such passion. Stephen’s determination during these spells to ensure all monies were paid on time to those who were owed is why the company has a great relationship with a number of building merchants in the area, ensuring the best prices are available.
During Stephen’s tenure, the projects have ranged from small roof repairs up to a £13m new build as well as securing an award from The East Midlands Branch of the Royal Town Planning Institute for their 'Branch Award for Rural Regeneration' on one of his projects in Ashbourne.
Outside of work, Stephen likes to walk his dogs, keep fit and is also purple belt in kickboxing.
**David Kinder 💻**
David joined the company in 2011 as an Estimator after spending the previous 11 years as a Quantity Surveyor for his previous employer. However, during these 11 years he trained on the side in the main aspects of construction estimating including being able to take off drawings by hand. This resulted in him assisting the Estimating department at busy times. David also passed HNC Building Studies at Sheffield Hallam University on a part time basis.
David has risen to Senior Estimator as well as becoming a Director in 2023. He also ran the company’s largest project to date, a £13m student accommodation build, taking on numerous roles including estimating, quantity surveying and contract management.
When pricing the projects, David carries out the initial surveys and is usually the first point of contact with the potential clients; thus providing the opportunity to build relationships straight away.
When out of work, David is very much a family man but does try to go and see Chelsea as often as possible and had a season ticket at Gloucester Rugby before the birth of his daughter in 2020. He also tries to keep reasonably fit through running, walking, the gym or boxercise.
**Mark Tweed 🧱**
Mark joined Littleover Building Services in April 2013 as a bricklayer. However, due to his knowledge and organisational skills, after 2 years he became a Foreman where, as well as working on projects, would organise materials, plant and contractors.
The company decided to put Mark through the SMS and SMSTS management courses, which were renewed again recently, and he became our Contracts Manager in 2020. Mark is now in charge of all the labour and contractors schedules and programming, organisation of plant and material requirements, as well as being the clients first point of contact on their projects from start to finish. Mark also works closely with Building Control on all the projects ensuring all regulations are met and that our work is to the highest standard.
Outside of work Mark likes to watch football (especially his beloved Aston Villa), go on walks and socialise.
**Martin Webster 💷**
Martin has been with the company since 1998 when he was initially employed as an Administration Officer and his duties were mainly basic admin' duties.
Prior to joining, Martin had worked at British Rail Engineering Limited and Royal Mail.
Over the years he also taken on other roles such as job costing and bookkeeping. To carry out these other duties he was given training from his predecessor and our Company Accountants.
Outside of work he likes to watch all types of sports, follow Derby County and plays Flat Green Bowls where he has held the position of Derbyshire County Secretary since 1997.
**Richard Turnpenny 🪚**
Richard started joinery in 1986 and trained in a joinery shop. During his time there, he achieved City & Guilds certification.
Prior to joining the company, Richard was self employed and built up a reputation as one of the best joiners in the area; whether it be for kitchen fitting or your standard joinery work to being able to produce decorative timber profiles for windows. Therefore, it was a bit of a coup for the company when Richard joined in 2022 and the joinery aspect of the company has never looked backed. Richard is a methodical thinker and is always able to find, and carry out, a solution when a problem may arise.
In his spare time, Richard likes to carry out his own projects at home as well as cooking.
**Peter Green 🏠**
Peter is one of the longest serving employees at the company having been with us since 1997.
Peter started in roofing with a previous employer in the area but has learnt his trade in finer detail over the years with Littleover Building Services. He has served as an Assistant Roofer in our in-house roofing division under a few people his senior but now Peter is in charge of this division himself.
Peter carries out all out surveys on the roofing side and then carries out the works when secured. He is capable of carrying out all aspects of roofing from pitched to flat and from slate/tile to rubber.
Peter’s hobbies include watching football, playing pool and socialising.
