What do all the numbers mean?
If you have had a quote for solar or done some research you may have come across a kWp number.
kWp is used by solar installers and designers to show the maximum power output of a solar PV array.
It is worked out by multiplying the total number of panels by the maximum watt output of the panels used. This is considered the maximum output of the system under optimal conditions.
This figure is important in the system design process to ensure we are picking equipment with the correct ratings to ensure your system is safe and fully functional.
The picture below is from a system we installed in 2022. The system consists of 18 x 365W panels giving it a 6.57kWp.
