How much will solar PV save?

This is a snippet from a genuine customer proposal - average bill just over £100 per month (which is completely average in NI) but with PV it's estimated that the bill will drop by 118% - removing the bills entirely and generating £20 in credit every year.

The system cost for this person is £7,900 so it's a significant investment but over time, it makes good financial sense. Get your own proposal for free - see how the numbers stack up. If you decide it's not for you, then at least you've made an informed decision.

Plug in Solar PV is coming to UK retailers soon - but what do you need to know? Crucially the update to regulations doesn't extend to Northern Ireland. NI rules need to be changed by Stormont.

💡Retail prices are expected to be lower than on-roof systems - but generation is also lower.
💡Payback is expected to be similar to on roof systems - around 5-7 years
💡You can't install batteries, or get paid for export to the grid with plug-in solar

Our advice: take extreme caution when adding any generation equipment to your home. Getting an electrician to check the health of your home wiring is strongly advised.

Do they work? Yes. But the generation they produce is minimal. If your roof isn't suitable for PV panels, or you've got a balcony they're better than nothing but it's important to understand the limitations. Over a longer period of time, a rooftop system will save significantly more than a plug in system.

The UK government claimes panels could help homes "significantly cut" energy bills.

Energy prices in NI have increased again - now Click Energy charge 38p per unit of power used.

⚡ Average electricity bill in NI is now over £1,400 per year
☀️ Average PV system price is around £8,000
💡Energy bills drop because your roof provides the power

If you'd invested in Solar PV the first time prices started to increase, it'd have paid for itself by now. Five years ago the average household bill was £500 per year.

Don't assume it's too expensive, or it'll not work for you. Let us give you a free quote and make an informed decision instead of blindly accepting one price rise after another.

Something's coming between our solar panels and the sun this week...

Solar panel owners are preparing for unscheduled downtime on Wednesday evening, when the moon will get in the way of free power generation. 🌑

Across Ireland, around 90% of the sun will be covered, causing power production to drop too! Thankfully it's an incredibly rare occurance, with the next near-total eclipse expected in 2081.

Also a reminder that looking at the sun can be damaging for your eyes - use ISO certified eclipse glasses or make a pinhole projector to watch it safely!
