💛💙 World Down Syndrome Awareness Week 2026 - Together Against Loneliness 💛💙

❓What can we all do to make society more inclusive? Today we’re thinking about parents and carers of children with Down syndrome.

👨 👩 As a parent/carer of a child or young adult with Down syndrome you often carry a quiet “loneliness” of your own.

💭It’s hard sometimes to be that “parent” who has a child that is different. Sometimes you feel a disconnect from your social circles as you worry about your child being accepted and included.

🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒 The community of families at 21 Plus provide a sense of “belonging” where everyone is accepted for who they are. It creates a strong support network for parents/carers and lifetime friendships have been forged through our love of our children. Parents often tell us how grateful they are to 21 Plus as it brings families together who are travelling the same journey.

Saturday 21st March is World Down Syndrome Day. As a business we always mark this day by wearing odd socks and special awareness T-shirts in honour of our son Joseph.

Joseph is supported by a wonderful charity called 21 Plus and tomorrow, he is undertaking a rugby themed challenge with the help of his team mates at Ebbw Vale RFC Under 12s and his big brothers team mates at Ebbw Vale RFC Youth. Last week we started work on a Restoration Project on the Grade II listed Crescent Arch in Ebbw Vale. This is a multi agency project for Blaenau Gwent Council being led by iBEX Technical Access Ltd and CADW. A scaffold design was necessary to ensure the safety and efficiency of the project.

We are looking for 1-2 Scaffold Labourers to join our busy and growing team.

🔺Key Responsibilities🔺

☑️Assemble and dismantle temporary metal scaffolding and platforms according to project specifications and safety guidelines.
☑️Assess site conditions and prepare foundations for scaffolding installation, ensuring stability and safety.
☑️Transport scaffolding materials to and from the worksite, inspecting them for damage or defects before use.
☑️Adhere to health and safety regulations, conducting regular checks and maintenance of scaffolding equipment to prevent accidents.
☑️Work closely with our scaffolders to facilitate various phases of construction, ensuring effective communication and teamwork.

🔺Required Skills and Qualifications🔺

☑️Physical Fitness: The role is physically demanding, requiring strength and stamina to handle heavy materials and work at heights.

☑️Communication Skills: Clear communication is essential for coordinating with team members and ensuring safety on site.

☑️Attention to Detail: Scaffold labourers must pay close attention to safety details and project specifications to ensure the integrity of scaffolding structures.

🔺Working Conditions🔺

Scaffold labourers typically work outdoors in various weather conditions and may need to travel to different job sites. The role often involves working at heights, requiring the use of safety equipment and clothing.
