Having not posted in a while it’s time for a quick update on our heavyweight fighting robot, Jasper. Kinetic Energy Robotics - KE Robotics
We had our first event of the 2026 UK season. Extreme Robots in The Dome, Doncaster. Firstly what a turn out of sportsman and full combat heavyweight robots!
A bit of a long post so bear with us here as I have tried to summarise our news.
No fight club for us as we got put onto Will Thomas’ team Quake. Saturday show one, we got 2 fights, Eruption and Viper vs Tectonic and Jasper was close but the judgement went to team Inferno. 2nd fight was one robot to represent each team, Eruption vs Jasper vs Gabriel vs Axel, another good fight which the judges went in favour of team Divinity’s Gabriel. Saturday 2nd show, again we got two fights, 1st up was Implosion vs Jasper vs MegaMouse vs TR4, this went to Wolfpack’s TR4. 2nd fight was team Quake’s Jasper with Spell Bound (fight club winner) vs team Inferno’s Implosion and Viper. A massive win to us and Team Quake partly due to Implosion’s axe becoming stuck in the wall with the robot off the arena floor. Jasper went on to dominate against Viper for a good spell of time along with Spell Bound. Eventually after over 35 seconds Viper managed to get to Implosion to try and assist but Jasper rammed and lifted Viper and Implosion which freed the axe robot. What followed was a lot of double teaming on Jasper however the win went our way, a vital 3 points to Team Quake.
Sunday we had one show, for team Quake it was Stingray (formerly Apocalypse) and Jasper vs team Wolfpack’s Ripper 6 and TR4. Unfortunately Jasper took a lot more hard hits and the floor flipper sent Jasper flying the length of the arena. I noticed a shower of sparks come out of Jasper and after a load more hits and self righting there was smoke followed by fire which was quickly extinguished with CO2. LiHv batteries are fine, so much shock went through Jasper it shattered a HDPE board which had all of the electronics mounted resulting in one of the weapon Victor BB ESCs being pulled into the weapon gears, massive short circuit and subsequent fire.
