This week our students built their own 9-key keyboards using a micro:bit and aluminium foil!
They explored coding, circuits, and conductive materials before putting their creations to the test by playing "Baa Baa Black Sheep".

Introducing the 123Robot micro:bit Guitar
Designed by JYLE | 123Robot to reduce the frustration of cutting cardboard guitars in classrooms where time is limited, this reusable version makes STEM lessons faster, cleaner, and more reliable for teachers and workshop leaders.

This guitar has been used numerous times in our workshops, and children absolutely love it. From the moment they connect the crocodile clips and start coding with the BBC micro:bit, the excitement and creativity in the room is incredible to see.

The activity helps young learners explore:
🔹 Coding and physical computing
🔹 Circuits and conductivity
🔹 Creative problem-solving
🔹 Music and interactive technology

By removing lengthy preparation time, educators can focus more on teaching, creativity, and hands-on experimentation.
Perfect for schools, STEM clubs, makerspaces, and outreach events.

Yesterday our students programmed the ESP32 using MicroPython and brought their robots to life.
At 123Robot workshops, young engineers don’t just learn—they create, test, and problem-solve using real components, microcontrollers, and mechanical systems.

We had an amazing time at the Wonders of Space Family Festival by Heriot-Watt University at Archerfield Walled Garden.

Our team showcased one of our custom-designed 123Robot, giving visitors a glimpse into what we build and create.

We also shared some of the exciting things we deliver in schools and after-school sessions.

It was fantastic to meet so many curious young minds and families exploring STEM in action!

If you’d like to bring robotics workshops to your school or community, get in touch with us.

Prototyping a keypad-controlled safe using an ESP32 and MicroPython—bringing together electronics, coding, and design to build a real embedded system 🔐
A great work in progress by one of our S1 students. Next step: designing the enclosure and 3D printing the final case.

Real-world play, real-world roles
Yesterday was all about hands-on fun with my boys — each taking on their own role:
Helicopter pilot 🚁
Truck driver 🚛
4x4 driver 🚙
All fully radio-controlled.
