Yesterday was World Su***de Prevention Day.

Our Founder and Managing Director, Russell Stilwell, has written an article on why the company and Russ himself is looking to tackle mental health, particularly in the construction industry.👏

The recent Coronavirus pandemic may have heightened existing anxieties for a lot of people so it’s important for us to work together to create change and help those who need it the most. 🙌

Project shout out 🙌

We were contracted to replace four areas of SAS 150 metal ceiling tiles in the kitchen servery areas of an office on Bank Street, Canary Wharf.

All light fittings were removed, kept, cleaned and refitted whilst each of the anti-bacterial ceiling tiles and grilles were replaced like for like.

We also worked with the incumbent to fit new caps to sprinklers and clean and re-fit all speakers and fire alarms.

This is just one of the projects where we’ve been out on site, safely and efficiently delivering essential works throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.

We’re incredibly proud of our team’s determination and hard work over the past few months.

Top job from a top team. Well done to all those involved. 👏

⭐️ We have some more great news to share! ⭐️

On Sunday, our Founder & MD’s daughter, Poppy walked 10km to raise money for Crohns & Colitis UK.

She managed to complete her walk in 2 hours - a fantastic achievement! 👏

Thank you to those who have sponsored Poppy - it really means a lot in these times - and a massive thank you to all of the RSE team who have supported Russ and his family since Poppy recieved her Crohns diagnosis 18 months ago. Without everyone’s hard work and support, Poppy wouldn’t be where she is today 💜

A big congratulations to RSE’s very own Russell Stilwell who has recently scooped two awards! 👏

We are excited to announce that our Founder and Managing Director, Russell, has been named Winner of Mates in Mind’s Impact Awards’ ‘Individual Champion – SME Organisation’ category and Constructionwise Minds has been crowned winner of the 'Projects Joint Venture' category!🙌

Russell’s journey with mental health is certainly inspiring; he has overcome personal challenges to become a business owner and employer with unwavering compassion for others. He commits himself to protecting the wellbeing of construction workers, promoting the importance of mental health support in an industry that’s riddled with mental illness struggles. From inside RSE Building Services to the wider sector and beyond, Russell’s efforts to raise awareness and help others are endless. 🤝

Well done Russ, you deserve it!

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week, an event designed to raise awareness of mental health and the support sufferers need.

For our Director, Russell Stilwell, this event holds a special significance. Having bravely battled mental illness himself, Russell’s inspiring story proves that, with a little support along the way, recovery is possible – we are all capable of flourishing after periods of struggle ❤️.

However, Coronavirus has made mental health an increasingly pertinent issue; loneliness is at the forefront of our society. As a result, we are all being held to account. Our mutual responsibility to recognise mental illness and support one another has been placed under a brightening spotlight and we are all being encouraged to help those who surround us in any way we can 🤝. As Russell says, ‘Society is being held to account. At times like this, it is ever more important to look out for the mental health and wellbeing of our RSE staff, suppliers and clients as we pull together in the forthcoming weeks and months to collaborate and all deliver.’

Did you know, in 2018 and 2019, there were 742,400 people participating in apprenticeships in the UK. There are numerous opportunities for young people to step into the construction industry.

To highlight this, we go above and beyond to bring even more construction opportunities to young people in the UK. As well as our Apprenticeship scheme, our MD Russell Stilwell, co-launched the Constructionwise Minds initiative.

Constructionwise Minds is an educational programme that teaches young people, aged 9-16, the electronic and construction based skills they would need to learn for a career in the construction industry. The initiative enhances and develops their life skills, providing them with construction industry opportunities.

RSE is continuing to help young people get into this fantastic industry. Watch this space… 👀

It’s Time to Talk day… a very important day in our calendar.

As a business, we’re dedicated to promoting and encouraging conversation about mental health.

Mental ill health can affect anyone… Our MD, Russell Stilwell is passionate about breaking down the stigma associated with it after previously battling poor mental health himself.

Recently trained as a Mental Health First Aider for adults and young people, Russell encourages an open door policy here at RSE. Any member of the team can come to him, seek advice and discuss their problems.

It’s good to talk. 👍 Starting a conversation about mental health can save lives.

If you’re also passionate about furthering the conversation, join us for our Mental Health First Aid Training course on the 24th and 25th February – get in touch today to find out more 📞

It’s National Apprenticeship Week.

Here at RSE, we believe that apprenticeships are an invaluable and important way of helping young adults get into the construction industry. There is no better method of gaining a wage, work experience and a qualification, all in one! 💡

We are proud to have supported talented young people with our apprenticeship scheme. We have already trained more than 13 apprentices over the last few years.

Harry, a previous RSE apprentice worked towards an electrical qualification and he enjoyed having a hands on approach to learning. Here is a great photo of him working onsite.

We’ve done it again! For the second time in the space of two weeks we’re celebrating RSE’s success.

Congratulations to Tony Church and his team, who have been named as Small Works Health and Safety Champions for 2017 in recognition of their outstanding work on the Merchant Square project.

This particular project required strategic planning and team work. Our guys had to carry out detailed working at height, including the use of a very high scaffolding tower situated on a narrow balcony. In fact, the works ended up going above and beyond normal scaffold tower operations.

As always, our team was up to the challenge. Exceptional working at height activity and our outstanding safe working practices combined to deliver this project without incident. This was all backed up by excellent paperwork.

Yet another award win for our incredible team. Well done!
