In the last quarter of 2024 we have been focusing on designing a standard sized build that can accommodate up to 4 people.
The majority of our builds enter the holiday letting market and we are moving away from the standard dimensions of the Shepherd Hut and increasing our internal dimensions to
7m x 3m.
There are plenty of Shepherd Hut builders and we need to create our own curved roof structure that will stand out from the norm.
We are working with a company called Blokbuild based in Hull to develop a cassette build and we are now at the point of populating the interior layout options. We are looking at offering 4 different options. The difficulty in all of this is to position windows and doors that will accommodate our different interiors. Quite simply, a cassette build is CNC cut material which is then put together to provide an uninterrupted insulated box. We will begin moving all our services within internal cavities. This form of construction minimises wastage at point of production and speeds up our build time in the workshop and streamlines our component requests from our suppliers.
We will be looking to provide our concept as a self build option.
The build will be suitable for any location and weather and will be able to handle the low temperatures during the winter months. The design is being passed to the structural engineers for wind load, snow load and structural integrity tests.
We will also work with clients on installation postcodes to provide engineers reports for the chosen location of the build as a coastal location is likely to receive more winds than sheltered inland positions.
We have chosen our internal components which will add to the luxury of our builds.
We will absolutely allow clients to choose colour options externally and internally.
This is to become our business focus but we will always accommodate clients with bespoke builds.
We are also moving forward with full turnkey options that will not only include the construction, but will include, full planning permissions, STL licences, site preparation, installation of services and installation of the build.
All of the above means that our website needs amended, our workshop needs adjusted but all our suppliers are on board and excited about this development in the business.
We have already received orders for this new design based on the concept.
Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and looking forward to sharing more on this in 2025.
