With the shell of the properties now formed and 1st fix electrics, plumbing and fire supression system installed the project starts taking shape.

Wellwynd - Structural Works

Installing the separation and new layout of the flats required considerable effort. Structural floors were meticulously cut, supported by newly constructed block walls, with foundations excavated internally.

Old doorways were sealed off, new window openings created, while a robust 5-meter tall separating wall was built beneath the trusses to ensure adequate fire seperation between the units. 🏗️

As the property is within North Lanarkshire Council's heritage zone, the original sash & case windows and traditional east coast pan tile roof were preserved.

Careful effort was made to replace the single-glazed panels with slimlite double glazing.

The roof valleys had deteriorated, featuring worn concrete tiles re-placed with lead valleys.

Exposing the brick.

The demolition phase felt endless on this project, with a constant stream of waste piling up. The lack of access for skip hire only complicated matters further.

Transforming an empty office space into four serviced accommodation units has been an ongoing personal project for us at MKS.

We’re back at the flats in Airdrie with the plasterers booked in for a week today. Big shift ahead to get the place ready
