SPONSORS: Glasgow Tigers Speedway would like to thank Fleming Plastics for again joining as a major sponsor for the 2016 season.

Fleming Plastics was founded in 1979 by James Fleming. Originally supplying plastic fabrication, the company expanded its range over the years to include vacuum forming and machined parts. They are proud to have been involved in the development and manufacturing of many notable items throughout Britain (the most recent of which being the stand for the Commonwealth Baton).

Hospitality Day at the speedway.

Recently Fleming Plastics sponsored Allied Vehicles businessmen Gerry and Michael Facenna, in their new venture to save the
Glasgow Tigers Speedway.

Ashfield FC is one of Scotland’s oldest football clubs, formed in 1886.

Speedway also has a lengthy tradition in Glasgow, dating back to
1946.

In recent years the two sporting institutions have shared a
home at Ashfield Stadium. Unfortunately, a lack of modern facilities there, together with other challenges, hampered the progress of both clubs. By the end of 2014 the continued existence of both appeared in jeopardy.
When brothers Michael and Gerry heard about this situation they
agreed to help and set about a transformation, both on and off the sports field.

Fleming Plastics are very proud to have supported such a historical Glasgow institution.

Commonwealth Games 2014

Queen’s Baton

In the summer of 2013, 4C Design of Glasgow approached Fleming Plastics with an unusual request, shrouded at the time in mystery.
4C required several acrylic supports machined and fabricated to high precision with a quality finish and Fleming Plastics was able to meet its customer’s rigorous requirements.
We now know these were components for the Queen’s Commonwealth Games baton and its support stands, which have been sent all over the world as part of the preparation for the games; and on the afternoon of 21 July, the Baton actually passed by our shop in Anniesland Glasgow!
And there’s more; the young apprentice who made the supports, Graham Taggart, was employed by Flemings, appropriately enough, with the support of the Glasgow City Council Commonwealth Job Fund - A fitting testimonial to the work of the Fund in creating a lasting Games legacy for Glasgow.
Fleming Plastics is proud to see the Baton reach its final destination and placed back in its acrylic support. We are honoured have had such a key part in Glasgow’s Commonwealth Games preparation.
