A job the team have been involved with last week. The client needed a section of wall removed, a ramp built on both sides. Large concrete lego blocks and Herris panels fixed with green debris netting fitted to help prevent access to another section of works. Just waiting for the top layer of stone dust to be delivered and compacted.

One of the jobs we have on the go. The client wants to replace the old hand rails and fit extra ones for edge protection and prevent the public from falling. We have to follow strict works due to the site being historic. The Hilti core drill is an absolute beast and making short works of the rock and walls. Metal workers should be able to do the handrail templates next week and then fit them once galvanised.

Scaffolding is up on the next phase and the team have cracked on and removed the rotten tiles and battens. Just need the weather to be on our side for the team to get the masonry repairs and rendering done.

The client needed to add a few more steps in as the original steps were all different heights which made it hard for visitors to get up. We ended up adding 10 new steps, replacing all the existing timbers and then had the daunting task of carry 2.5 tonne of gravel from the road up to the top by hand as there were no access for machinery and in heavy rain, But the team got stuck in and got the job done……. I believe we clocked around 40000+steps each that day. But the client was pleased with the out come which made the hard work worth it. Just need to wash down the front of the risers.

We were subcontracted to carry out repairs to a boundary wall. Wasn’t a quick job as there was a lot of planning as we needed to close the road, source larger stones to tie the both sides in and the weather definitely didn’t help. But we got th job completed on time and the client was extremely happy with the work and how smoothly it all went.

We Urgently Need Volunteers!

Martin’s Project | Torquay | Project 51
We’re proud to announce Project 51, an upcoming Band of Builders build supporting Martin Johnson, a self-employed builder from Torquay.

After more than 25 years in construction, Martin’s life changed suddenly when he was diagnosed with Glioblastoma, an incurable brain tumour. He is no longer able to work, drive, or access the upstairs of his home and now sleeps in the front room, while his family use the kitchen as their main living space.

Before becoming unwell, Martin planned to replace the kitchen’s flat roof, which is now cold and damp and urgently needs repair before winter. He had also started building his dream gazebo a place he hoped to sit and enjoy his garden but is unable to finish it himself.

Next month we will step in to replace the flat roof and complete the gazebo, helping to make Martin’s home warmer, more comfortable and allowing him to enjoy precious time with his family.

That’s it now untill the new year. The client needed to change the back garden from lawn to a paved area to make life easier for them. We want to keep some of the plants to break up the squareness. Also they wanted us to screen the oil tank off but had to leave access for filling and maintenance. Massive thanks to (Launceston) for their constant support and quick deliveries.
Jewsons (Launceston) for sourcing and supplying the slabs.
