Following on from our recent project by Loch Ness, where we removed a dense, overgrown hedge and installed a clean, durable timber fence, we thought we’d share a few boundary solutions we regularly work with.

Every site is different, and the right choice depends on privacy, exposure, maintenance, and overall look. Here are four popular options we install:

• Post and rail fencing – A classic choice for rural and larger plots. It defines boundaries without blocking views and works well in open landscapes.

• Closeboard fencing – Strong, long-lasting, and ideal for privacy. A great all-rounder that stands up well to the Highland weather.

This project involved replacing an overgrown Leylandii hedge with a high-quality timber fence, opening up the space and views of Loch Ness while creating a clean, durable boundary.

BIG NEWS FROM CALEDON CONTRACTORS

We’re excited to announce our most unique project request to date…

A certain long-time resident of Loch Ness has been in touch. Yes, Nessie herself has asked us to design and build her a bespoke lochside home

The brief?
✔️ Open-plan living with panoramic underwater views
✔️ Extra-deep foundations (obviously)
✔️ A private docking area for the occasional tourist submarine
✔️ And a strict “no photographers” clause

We’re currently working through planning… although the council are asking a lot of questions about “mythical occupancy” and “unverified residents.”

At Caledon Contractors, we pride ourselves on saying yes to every challenge — no matter how big, small… or legendary.

So whether it’s a self-build, renovation, or a luxury hideaway for Scotland’s most famous resident…

We really can build anything.
