A few weeks ago, we had the pleasure of working at Girvans in Inverness. Once we went onto the roof, we quickly discovered why it had been causing problems.

We found broken fibre cement slates, awful patch work. Rather than carrying out a temporary repair, we stripped the affected areas back properly and rebuilt them using new sarking boards, osb board as that is on top of the sarking & a breathable membrane, Code 5 lead, and new slates.

It was a job that revealed more than expected, but that’s exactly why we believe in doing things properly the first time. We don’t believe in patchwork repairs—we believe in long lasting solutions & doing the job correct.

The finished result speaks for itself.

No repair is ever too small. A minor issue today can quickly turn into a major problem if it’s left unnoticed. Water ingress can cause the felt to deteriorate and eventually damage the sarking boards, potentially leading to more damage.

We repaired this slate first thing this morning as it was just around the corner from us. We’re always happy to take on the small jobs, as they help prevent much bigger issues further down the line.
