PRECISION FROM THE GROUND UP
HORNSEA 3
JCE Renewable Services has recently completed the installation of a specialist heavy-lift foundation for the upcoming Hornsea 3 project, supporting Siemens Gamesa, รrsted and Sarens delivered seamlessly and ahead of programme.
The engineered foundation has been constructed to support a Terex CC 8800-1 Superlift crawler crane, operating at approximately 1,250 tonnes in its working configuration.
For a heavy-lift operation of this magnitude, what sits beneath the crane is every bit as critical as the lift itself.
Prior to construction, JCE coordinated the required CPT ground investigation and geotechnical analysis, providing the engineering data necessary to establish ground conditions, assess bearing capacity and determine the foundation requirements under the significant imposed loads generated by the CC 8800-1.
Following completion of the geotechnical assessment, our civils team delivered the engineered foundation under stringent quality, dimensional and survey control, working to the strict tolerances specified for the crane.
The completed working platform was constructed to a level requirement of ยฑ0.3ยฐ (ยฑ0.5%), with particular attention given to formation levels, uniformity, load distribution and ground-bearing capacity across the crane's operational footprint.
Every stage followed a controlled and verifiable engineering process:
Ground Investigation
โ CPT Testing
โ Geotechnical Analysis
โ Engineered Ground Preparation
โ Precision Foundation Installation
โ Survey & Final Verification
Working collaboratively with Siemens, รrsted and Sarens, JCE has delivered the foundation with a continued focus on safety, engineering compliance, dimensional accuracy and quality assurance while maintaining programme and completing the works ahead of schedule.
This scope demonstrates JCE's capability to deliver considerably more than the physical installation. By combining ground investigation, geotechnical engineering, specialist civils, precision construction and final verification, we provide an integrated solution for some of the renewable energy sector's most demanding heavy-lift infrastructure requirements.
When you're engineering the ground beneath one of the world's largest crawler cranes, precision isn't simply a target it's a requirement.
