The Study – 📘 PART 5 — Nearly There: Modern Vintage Vibes
The study is almost complete. The remaining walls now have a green colour collage applied, paired with antique brass sockets and switches, vintage brass bankers lamps and a matching wall‑mounted picture light. Ceiling downlights with antique brass covers and an in‑ceiling speaker finish the lighting setup. The Chesterfield chair and sofa give the room a modern vintage feel.
Still a few bits to go — radiator to fit, window to finish, paint touch‑ups, curtains, blinds, a picture for the wall and some ornaments — but not bad at all for a bit of DIY.

The Study – 📘 PART 3 — Priming & Final Prep
Undercoat day. The study received a full coat of Zinsser Bulls Eye surface primer, with a little more filling and sanding where needed to get the finish spot‑on. Another coat of primer went on to seal everything in and prepare the room for colour.
A clean, solid base ready for the transformation.

The Study – 📘 PART 2 — Filling, Bonding & Smoothing
With the wiring complete, the next stage was filling all chases, gaps and holes. Deep sections were packed with Thistle Bonding Coat and left to dry before being finished with Gyproc Easifill 60. Once set, everything was smoothed down with the mouse sander to get the walls ready for primer.
A proper bit of prep work to bring the room back to life.

The Study – 📘 PART 1 — Stripping Back & Setting Out
Day one in the study refurbishment. Before any of the fun could start, it was time to open everything up and expose the existing wiring for sockets, switches and lighting ready for a full re‑wire. New back boxes were installed, along with the wi‑fi extender and Netgear ethernet switch. All internet, HDMI and data cables were run to their new locations, and the laser level came out to mark the ceiling light and speaker positions.

Radiators – Kirkby, Knowsley L32. Installation of New Artic Hayes Easi Bleeds

A simple but effective fix for one of our customers this week. Several built‑in radiator air vents had been damaged through heavy-handed use, but the radiators themselves were still in good condition. To get the heating system running properly again, we installed new Artic Hayes Easi Bleed vents across the affected radiators.

System refilled, bled and checked over — all working as it should. A straightforward solution that keeps everything running smoothly without unnecessary replacements.

Plumbing works - Knowsley L34. Installation of a new Bristan shower valve with overhead and hand‑rinse shower.

We removed a very creative DIY setup that was… let’s just say supported by timber, stuffed with polystyrene, and definitely not installed by a plumber. More like someone with a saw and far too much confidence.

New copper pipework has now been installed, neatly soldered, cleaned and properly supported. A small tile adjustment was needed to fit the new valve, and thankfully we had access from the boiler cupboard on the landing to complete the job cleanly.

All sealed, tested and ready for use — installed safely, professionally and built to last.

Radiators – Halewood, Liverpool L26. Plumbing works completed for a local builder as part of an extension and full property refurbishment.

On our first visit we installed new copper pipework and stumped out for the radiator valve connections ready for the build to progress. Once the walls were plastered, we returned to install the new radiators and valves, along with upgrading several existing radiators elsewhere in the property to improve overall performance.

All radiators were flushed, tested and are now working exactly as they should. Another tidy job completed for a valued local builder.

SOIL PIPES

Lee Park Avenue, Belle Vale L25 3RL – New Build Progress

On this new build development, we’ve been completing the connections for the Polypipe soil system in the loft area. This includes installing the Manthorpe GTV adaptor and GRPA flexible pipe to link the soil pipe to the roof tile vent.

It’s not the most glamorous part of the job — and definitely not the one anyone queues up to talk about — but it’s a crucial step in ensuring the soil and waste system operates exactly as it should. Proper venting prevents odours, protects traps, and keeps the whole system running smoothly.

Another important piece of the build completed to a high standard.
