📸 We finally got the photo! It’s been non-stop on the Stocks stand all morning.

Dan, Annette and Jenny have barely had a moment to breathe at the final Print & Stitch Roadshow of 2026, here in Liverpool. 🙌

We’re calling that a good sign.

It’s been a morning full of great conversations. Some of you are just starting to learn embroidery. Others are ready to take your business to the next level.

One thing is the same for everyone.

The right embroidery machine depends on YOUR business. Not on a spec sheet.

So our team does what they do best. They listen first.

They ask about what you’re producing now, what you want to be producing next year and where you keep getting stuck.

Then they show you the machinery that fits.

On the stand today:
✅ Brother PR series: commercial embroidery machines that are easy to learn and perfect for starting or growing your business
✅ ZSK: industrial embroidery machines, made in Germany, built for high-volume production
✅ Hoopmaster hooping aids: faster hooping and the same placement every time, from left chests to sleeves
✅ Support that doesn’t stop once you buy. We deliver, install and train you on every new ZSK machine, and we look after it for its whole lifetime.

💡 Top tip: if you’re visiting this afternoon, bring a garment or a design you’ve had trouble with. A two-minute look can save you weeks of trial and error.

This is the last chance to catch us at Print & Stitch this year. Don’t miss it!

👉 We’re here until 4pm today. Come and say hello to Dan, Annette and Jenny. Can’t make it? Call 0113 242 9378 or visit https://f.mtr.cool/4spwddeoko to book a one-to-one chat.

"I placed a deposit on a 6 head machine before we had even built the workshop for it to go in."

That is a particular kind of nerve, and we have a lot of time for it.

Buying ahead of the space you have is how most embroidery businesses grow. It just needs someone at the other end of the phone for the months in between.

Thank you for this one — and for the headline, which we're keeping.

Getting creative at Stocks.

Yesterday we welcomed Liz from Embroidery Academy and her good friend, Sam, back to our showroom for a creative embroidery training day on the Brother PR series, exploring just how much more these machines can do.

Attendees tried their hand at a range of techniques, including:
✂️ Appliqué and reverse appliqué
✨ 3D foam embroidery
❄️ Freestanding lace with water-soluble backing
🎁 Handmade gifts, from Christmas decorations to keyrings

It was a day full of ideas and inspiration, perfect for anyone looking to add something new to their range, especially with the festive season on the way.

Thank you to Embroidery Academy for sharing their creativity and expertise, and to everyone who joined us.

Keep an eye on our page for upcoming training dates.

Count the needles on your machine.

Twelve? Fifteen? That is the industry norm, and for plenty of work it is enough.

ZSK carries eighteen per head.

Three more than the usual maximum, six more than most. The difference shows up in your week rather than on the spec sheet.

Think about a normal run of left chest work. Your customers' brand colours. Your house standards: white, black, navy, grey. A metallic for the club crests. A spare white, because white always runs out first.

On twelve needles that does not fit, so you swap threads between jobs. Every swap is a stop, and every stop is a chance to load the wrong cone.

On eighteen, it fits.

You leave your most-used colours loaded permanently. You run a six-colour logo, then a four-colour, then a nine-colour crest, back to back, without touching the thread stand. You batch mixed orders instead of sorting them by colour.

That last one matters more than people expect. Sorting the day's work by thread colour is a hidden tax on small runs.

Eighteen needles per head is standard across the ZSK Sprint 9, the Racer Compact and the Racer II, from a single head up to eight. All built in Germany for continuous production.

Three things worth checking on your own setup:

1. Count your thread changes in a week, and time one properly.
2. List the colours you use more than twice a month. If it is over twelve, you are losing time.
3. Look at the jobs you sort rather than run. That is the queue eighteen needles unblocks.

Stocks is the sole UK and Ireland distributor for ZSK, with installation, training and ongoing support from our own engineers.

Thinking about the step up? Send us a message and we will talk through which machine suits the work you actually do.

Dan served his apprenticeship under his father-in-law.

Years later, the two of them work at Stocks together.

Dan is a field engineer covering the whole of the UK — servicing, repairing and installing embroidery equipment, and prepping machinery in the workshop in between. He joined us five years ago.

One day he's in an established factory down south. The next he's in the north of Scotland, training someone who has just bought their first machine.

"There is no typical day or week, which is why I love my job."

Ask Dan what causes most of the faults he's called out to and the answer is straightforward: lack of maintenance. His advice is simpler still. "Do not over complicate embroidery. Take your time and keep things simple."

He's particularly proud of being part of the Compact Twin roll-out, working alongside engineers here and in Germany to improve it. It's also his favourite machine — a genuinely new idea that lets people with limited space add a multi-head.

Colleagues describe him as helpful and competent.

Outside work: family time and fishing.

☕ Tea or Coffee: Coffee.

If Dan has been out to you, what was he working on? 👇

1,000 stitches per minute.

It's on every spec sheet.

Almost nobody explains what it means for your business.

So let's do that.

A typical left chest logo is around 5,000 stitches.

Lets use an average: max. speed up to 1,000 stitches per minute, 6 colour changes, 10 trims. Running at an average 80% of max speed with 85% productive time, in 8-hour shift.

Call it thirteen minutes a garment, realistically.

36 polos embroidered and packaged in one day.

That's the number that matters when a customer asks how quickly you can turn something around.

Both the Brother PR680W and the PR1060W run at up to 1,000 stitches per minute.

But here's the part people miss.

They also run down to 400 stitches per minute.

Slower is a feature, not a failure.

Drop the speed for:
🧵 Metallic threads that snap under tension.
🧶 Fine knitwear that distorts.
🧊 Dense 3D puff work.
🕣 Any first run of a new design.

Speed is a dial, not a setting you leave alone.

Three practical tips:

1. Run your first sample at 600 spm. Check registration. Then wind it up.
2. Keep speed high on stable woven fabric, lower on stretch.
3. Track your real minutes per garment for two weeks. Price from that, not from a guess.

The machines won't be your bottleneck.

Hooping, digitising and admin usually are.

That's why we include operator training with every new PR series machine in the UK mainland, plus lifetime technical support and nationwide engineer cover.
