We’re proud to have played a part in the transformation of The Cartwheel Club in Elland, helping bring this historic 1875 building back to life as a modern, inclusive community hub.

Following a £2 million award from the Government’s Future High Street Fund, the centre has undergone a major refurbishment — and AJS were delighted to secure the contract to design and install the full electrical package through a competitive tender process.

Over 10 months, our team delivered:
⚡ Full electrical strip out and new power installation
💡 Complete LED and feature lighting internally & externally
🌐 Cat6 data infrastructure and free broadband connectivity
🔒 CCTV, access control, burglar alarm & accessible toilet alarms
🔥 Comprehensive L1 addressable fire alarm system

Working within the constraints of a once-neglected heritage building, alongside new supply requirements from Northern Powergrid and strict installation limitations, this project brought plenty of challenges — but also huge reward.

Here’s a look at our 1st & 2nd fix plumbing works at a housing development in Stockton-on-Tees.

💧 First Fix:

All the essential pipework installed behind the scenes – domestic hot & cold, heating, gas, and drainage systems fitted under floors and within walls, ready to be concealed.

🚿 Second Fix:

Bringing it all to life – installing sanitary ware (toilets, basins, showers & baths), radiators, kitchen sinks, and boilers. This is where everything gets connected and fully operational.
