Our facilities are full of state-of-the-art machinery, but sometimes the old reliable kit still has an important job to do.

This induction motor is still going strong at our Wakefield facility, used specifically to finish the edges of one of Selectequip’s innovations: the T-Mark Point ID RC Plate.

First developed in 2001, the T-Mark was recreated to solve a very specific problem. Traditional point identification plates were expensive, and their Victorian-style appearance meant they were regularly stolen as keepsakes.

Our answer was a completely different approach.

The T-Mark RC plate is made from 100% recycled bottle tops, bringing the cost down by around 80% while creating a durable, practical product with no real theft value.

More than two decades later, they’re still in use today.

What started as a solution for the UK rail industry has since gone much further, with T-Marks now used across the UK and in locations including New York, Los Angeles, Australia, Ireland and across Europe.

A simple problem, a practical solution, and a product that has stood the test of time.
