Bit of breaking 📰 🔴

Two weeks ago, I officially completed the purchase and takeover of PHL Hydraulics UK Ltd, and I am incredibly proud and humbled to say that I am now the sole owner of the business.

This is a major milestone I never imagined when I first joined the company in 2009 in county Carlow in Ireland, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the belief, support and guidance of one person – Noel Fallon.

Noel, thank you for giving me opportunities that have shaped my career, for believing in me when others may not have, and for trusting me to help build PHL Hydraulics UK Ltd into one of the UK’s leading names in hydraulic engineering, synchronised lifting and heavy lifting solutions. Your mentorship, knowledge and friendship over the years have been invaluable. The vision you created for this company, combined with my own ambitions for its future, will continue to be the foundation of everything we do. I look forward to building on the legacy you’ve created while continuing to grow the business into new markets and opportunities.

To my incredible team, thank you. This achievement is not mine alone. Every engineer, technician, project manager, office administrator and member of our workshop and site teams has played a vital role in our success. PHL Hydraulics UK Ltd are extremely proud to have supported one of the UK’s major infrastructure projects, Grain to Tilbury, part of National Grid’s the Great Grid Upgrade — the construction of a new high-voltage cable tunnel beneath the River Thames.

The 2.2km tunnel, connecting Gravesend, Kent to Tilbury, Essex, is being delivered for National Grid by the Ferrovial BEMO Joint Venture, comprising Ferrovial Construction and BEMO Tunnelling UK Ltd.

PHL Hydraulics UK Ltd were selected to provide the hydraulic jacking and monitoring system for the Advance Launch / Flying Launch operation of the 464t Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM).

The operation utilised:
• 14no Enerpac 150t hydraulic jacks
• PHL synchronised hydraulic pumping system
• Bespoke monitoring and control system designed by PHL Hydraulics UK Ltd
• 6 dedicated team members operating 24hrs a day across 12hr shifts

The 108m-long, 4.79m diameter Mixshield TBM was successfully advanced 12m into its new shaft during the critical launch phase, operating under demanding ground and water pressure conditions beneath the Thames estuary.

The launch operation was completed in just 1 week, helping advance the overall programme and gaining valuable time back on the project schedule.

This marks the second time PHL Hydraulics UK Ltd have been selected for a specialist TBM Flying Launch operation following the successful Silvertown Tunnel TBM launch. Due to the success of these operations, PHL now operate a substantial range of heavy hydraulic jacking equipment alongside a dedicated specialist team capable of delivering these works throughout the UK and worldwide.

This specialist operation demonstrates PHL Hydraulics UK Ltd’s expertise in heavy lifting, synchronised hydraulic movement, and precision-controlled engineering solutions for complex infrastructure and tunnelling projects across the UK and Europe. We would like to take the opportunity to thank the site management, site team, our own management team and our site teams working 24/7 for another amazing achievement.

This year for Easter we donated to a charity that is so close to the ❤️ for us all that you will never truly know how much they have helped with a very very special lady in our life’s. The ECHO TEAM- Evalina Childrens Hospital took a very special delivery from Aidan Soppy B-Power to thank all the team personally for everything they do everyday. We are extremely grateful for the pioneering work these amazing people do every hour of the day and night.
