Commercial HVAC systems

Both commercial and residential HVAC systems have the same objective and use, they both are used to heat, cool, and keep the air quality at a comfortable humidity.

A commercial HVAC system will work by creating combustion gas that is transferred to a heat exchanger, which warms the air that is passed through. Heat pumps can be used to transfer outdoor heat indoors. Air-conditioners work the same, but the other way round, transferring indoor heat outdoors. To control all of this, commercial buildings have simple, programmable thermostats.

What HVAC system should my commercial building have?

The type of system you have in your commercial building depends on what its used for, for example many businesses use theirs for offices and workspace which would require heating and cooling. Industrial buildings that involve manufacturing or large storage facilities will generally try to heat the building and have cooling systems. Commercial buildings differ between big and small spaces so each business and their building will require different systems and temperatures depending on what they are used for. A professional HVAC technician can help you decide which system is best for you and your space.
Generally, there are three major systems you may benefit from.
Single- split system
A single split system is best suited for a smaller commercial building, it heats and cools individual rooms.
Multi- Split system
A multi split system is best suited to a small to mid-sized commercial buildings and heats individual rooms, it can connect multiple indoor units to one exterior unit.
VRF and VRV systems
These are ideal for mid-size and larger commercial spaces. This type of system also can recover waste heat and use It to heat other rooms.

Heat pumps and their benefits! 🔥🔥🔥

A heat pump is an electrically powered device that absorbs heat from the ground, the air or water from a building, it’s a device that uses a small amount of energy to move heat from one location to another. They are an energy efficient way of heating a building! Heat pumps don’t burn fuel, they simply move heat. If you decide to invest in this system, you could save the amount of electricity you use from heating your home by 30% to 40%!
There are many different types of heat pumps on the market, each of them all transfer heat in a similar way. The most common used pump Is the air source heat pump. Although they are more expensive to install, they generally have lower operating costs.
Heat pumps have become extremely popular over the years due to their environmental and financial benefits as they use renewable energy from the environment. They can substantially lower your energy bills and your carbon footprint.

Heating efficiency

What is heating efficiency?

How much fuel a boiler can convert into useable energy is known as the efficiency. A boiler with a high efficiency rating will use less fuel to meet the same demand for central heating than an inefficient boiler. If your energy supplier is sending less gas to your home, your bills will go down as a result. Purchasing a new highly efficient boiler would be the best way to heat your home most effectively, however this can be costly. There are other, cheaper steps you can take in the meantime.

☃️Avoid heating empty rooms

❄️Don’t turn the heating up too high

☃️Avoid leaving your heating on all the time

❄️Keep your radiators clean and away from furniture

☃️In winter, keep your curtains and blinds open during the daylight hours and close them at night to avoid heat loss

Winter maintenance guide for HVAC systems

The winter months can be challenging for us and our belongings, the cold air can put a strain on our bodies, cars, technology, and our homes. We Try to keep all our belongings as dry and warm as we can to prevent mould, corrosion, rust, and water damages. Our homes are also prone to heat loss during these months if we don’t keep our systems up to date and in good condition.

Here is how you can help your HVAC system this winter:

1. Frequent air filter replacements
A clean filter will keep your air circulating smoothly through your air system without costing you extra money. If it is left dirty and grimy it can cause the system to block and break down or slow the process of smooth airflow.

2. Inspect the vents and ducts
Make sure your vents and ducts are clear of rugs/furniture /wall hangings or any ornaments etc. Vents are the points where air ducts open into your home. Take the time to inspect your system, duct leakage is a major cause of poor indoor air quality and health problems (allergies, asthma etc)

3. Adjust your thermostat
You can try and adjust your system whilst sleeping or at work to give the thermostat a break, turning It down whenever you can will help the cost of heating. You can set your thermostat to a timer so it has specific temperatures for specific times of the day.

4. Clear the systems exhaust pipe
A blocked exhaust pipe can pump carbon monoxide back into your building if it doesn’t have an emergency shut off system, this could put you at risk. To prevent this happening, you should remove snow and ice from your pipes.

Fun fact🔥

Did you know?🤔

Ancient Egyptians created the first known indoor cooling systems by hanging wet mats over their doorways to lower temperatures in the bone and add moisture to the dry air🥶🥶

Thermal Destratification🔥🥶

Thermal Destratification is the process of mixing the internal air in a building to eliminate stratified layers and equalize the temperature throughout the building.

A buildings energy usage is reduced when incorporating Thermal Destratification into the building, this Is because the heating system won’t have to over work to keep up with replacing heat that rises to the ceiling, this happens when it breaks up the already heated air that has travelled to the ceiling, back to the floor.

Destratification works by equalizing the temperature, because it eliminates hot and cold spots in a building it is a great way to reduce carbon emissions due to reducing energy. Many businesses us this method to maintain an equal temperature as makes a room more comfortable.

How to keep your home cost efficient this winter

We have done the research so that you don’t have to.

Here are a few tips to save you money during the colder months:
• Using your Air Fryer or Microwave are cheaper alternatives than cooking with your oven.
• Check your boiler, The Heating and Hot Water Council have published a report that states that households can save around 6% to 8% on Their gas bill, you will just need to turn down the heating flow temperature on your condensing combi boiler.
• Ditch your tumble dryer when you can! Tumble dryers are massive energy drains. On warm suitable days, hang your clothes outside or on a drying rack.
• Only turn your dishwasher on when its full. Use eco settings if it’s possible.
• Use your washing machine on a 30c. Try and reduce your washing machine use by once a week.
• ‘Heat the human’ use a hot water bottle to heat yourself rather than heating your home.
• Layering up e.g., fluffy socks, blankets, dressing gowns, basically anything cosy!
