The Viamux Story
Viamux specialises in low cost, highly resilient DAB and DAB+ solutions.
The company was founded in March 2017 by David Duffy and John Evington, two seasoned radio professionals who have been running the small-scale Manchester multiplex since September 2015 as part of Ofcom’s trial.
In 2017 Viamux was commissioned to supply and install two small-scale, software-driven DAB+ multiplexes at RTÉ’s Radio Centre in Donnybrook, south of Dublin. The project was completed on schedule and in budget with capacity for 44 services broadcasting in stereo at 48 kb/s.
Later Viamux installed the equipment for a small-scale DAB trial in Ireland’s second city, Cork, operated by sister company éirdab. The 'minimux' launched on Friday August 10th 2018 on channel 11A, bringing greater listening choice to a city where more than 250,000 people live, work, study & play every day.
