Yesterday, Team Opus laced up their running shoes and took on the Manchester 10K in support of Young Lives vs Cancer💙🏃🏃‍♀️

This charity holds a very special place in our hearts as our colleague Paul’s daughter is currently bravely fighting leukaemia. We wanted to come together as a team to support not only Paul and his family, but also the incredible work that Young Lives vs Cancer does for children and families facing cancer.

We’re incredibly proud to say that every member of Team Opus crossed the finish line, and thanks to the amazing generosity of our friends, family, customers and supporters, we’ve raised an incredible £3,812!

A huge thankyou to everyone who donated, shared our fundraiser, cheered us on, and helped us reach this fantastic total. Your support will make a real difference to families who need it most.

Another week, another fantastic achievement for the grassroots teams we’re proud to support.

Huge congratulations to Newton Heath Locos, who triumphed in Rotterdam, Netherlands, competing in extraordinary temperatures against teams from Holland, Belgium and around UK.

While the heat and pressure tested everyone, the team showed real composure and resilience — progressing through the semi-finals and going on to win the tournament on penalties.

A brilliant achievement and a true reflection of the commitment shown by the players, parents and coaches. Grassroots sport relies on this level of dedication, and we’re proud to play a small part in supporting that journey.

Thomas Walsh, Group Business Director is delighted to confirm the appointment of Kevin Delaney as Commercial Director and Alan Flett as Finance Director.

Kevin brings deep commercial expertise, with a proven track record in contract strategy, commercial risk management and value optimisation. He will be instrumental in strengthening our commercial discipline and supporting long - term, profitable growth. He is also a leader of people and is keen on succession planning, which will be key to his team & the wider business.

Alan joins the leadership team with significant experience in financial leadership, governance and strategic planning. His focus will be on financial resilience, performance insight and ensuring the business is well positioned to support future investment and scale. He'll also be leading a system change to allow us to develop into the business we are becoming.

Thomas Walsh, Group Business Director is delighted to announce the latest appointments to his Leadership Team, of Joanne Warburton as Head of Business Transformation and Gemma Gale as Head of Business Governance.

Joanne brings extensive experience in driving operational change, improving systems, implementation of processes and embedding scalable ways of working. Her focus will be on strengthening how we deliver - ensuring our structure, processes and culture evolve in line with our growth ambitions.

Gemma joins the Leadership Team with a strong background in governance, compliance and risk management. She will play a key role in reinforcing robust frameworks, accountability and best practice across the business, ensuring we continue to operate with integrity, clarity and confidence. As the longest serving member on the leadership team; her depth of knowledge in Opus will be pivotal to the success of her role, in supporting the rest of the team & the overall success of Opus Group.

An incredible effort from Kevin Delaney, Jason Singleton & Tony McFarlane who recently took on the challenge of wing walking — with some even stepping it up further by completing acrobatic wing walking!

This challenge was all in support of Young Lives vs Cancer, a charity that is incredibly close to our hearts at Opus Utility Solutions Ltd & SP Energy Networks.

The reason behind this challenge is deeply personal to us all. Our colleague; Paul Triggs’s daughter is currently battling leukaemia, and seeing the strength and courage shown by both Paul and his family has inspired those around them to rally together and raise funds for such an important cause.

To willingly stand on the wings of an aircraft while it performs aerobatics takes a huge amount of courage — and the commitment shown by Kevin, Jason & Tony to support this cause has been nothing short of outstanding.

We originally set ourselves a fundraising target of £5,000, and we’re incredibly proud to say that thanks to the amazing generosity and support shown by everyone, we have now raised an incredible £5,270.

A massive well done to the three of you from everyone across Opus Group and SP Energy Networks. Your efforts, bravery and support for Paul and his family are truly appreciated.

🚨 New Contract Award 🚨

We’re proud to announce the award of one of the most significant electricity distribution projects in the UK — the Shawfair to Whitehouse 33kV Kaimes GSP reinforcement project in Edinburgh, delivered for SP Energy Networks.

This is the largest distribution project awarded by SP Energy Networks, involving the installation of more than 130,000 metres of 33kV cable & fibre across a 10.3km route, helping to strengthen and future-proof the local electricity network for years to come.

Works are due to commence within the next month, with a 15-month delivery programme ahead.

Being selected as the delivery partner for a project of this scale is something we are extremely proud of. It reflects the trust placed in Opus Utility Solutions Ltd and reinforces our position in the market as a leader in delivering both framework contracts and major infrastructure projects across the UK.

Our teams continue to demonstrate the capability, expertise, and commitment required to deliver complex projects safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards for our clients and the communities we serve.
