RESTEK RECRUITING ESTIMATOR .
Due to our continued growth we are looking to recruit an estimator with experience within the concrete repairs and injection grouting side of our business . This is a full time position based out of our offices in Ripley Derbyshire . If you are interested please message me privately at [email protected]

30/01/2018

Today my offices in Ripley got broken into . The people who did this I expect were put up to it as there was no attempt to steal items that could be easily sold on .

Instead they decide to steal our server and client information in either an attempt to put us out of business or extract information that is only valuable to us or our competitors.

What they didn't account for was our IT departments external hard drives or the tracking device on those hard drives when turned on .

I am offering a £20,000 pound reward to anyone that gives me information that results in a conviction on the culprit who instigated this deliberate attempt on shutting us down !

Restek have been contracted to provide a solution to stabilise and renew a newly cast slab that has suffered from multiple fractures at Pennine Foods Sheffield Via Cleggs Construction.

Specialising in stabilising / reinforcing building components we are able to renew the structural slab back to its original condition. This omits the need for costly and disruptive breaking out and relaying of the slab whilst keeping contractors warranties in place

RESTEK had recently been approached to carry out works to the Dot-Com extension at Tesco Mansfield jubilee extra,
The problem:
The extension was completed in September 2013 and consists of approximately 3000sqft building extension on the back of house bulk store of the existing building to service an extended Dot-Com shopping facility.
Due to the nature of the external levels the extension was built with a suspended floor slab comprising a steel deck/concrete composite structural slab spanning between main steel beams at up to 6m centers upon which was placed 60mm thickness of insulation and topped off with a 100mm thickness non-structural floating slab up to finished floor level with a power-floated finish.
The floating slab had been cast without any saw cut crack inducer joints but cast as a single monolithic pour. The result is that over the following months the floating slab has developed cracks across across it at approx.. 5-7 meters spacing as the concrete has experienced drying shrinkage as well as the thermal movement to the slab.

The solution:

Engineers from ISG contacted RESTEK to discuss the severity of the cracks and to come up with proposals for the remedial actions that should be taken to ensure the area remains serviceable.

RESTEK proposed that the most effective action would be to apply an epoxy resin using a specialist pressure injection system for its ability to seal, bond and stabilize building components. Nitofil LV resin chosen for its low viscosity with both high internal strength and adhesive tensile strength that can be injected into cracks of 0.25mm and reach the finest of micro-cracks through the use of Restek’s pressure injection procedure. This enabled the resin to permeate into the concrete and bind the particles together restoring the slab back to its original design specification.

The work was separated into three zones

Day 1: The Cold Store

There were two fractures to the cold store that required sealing, the store was to be handed over to our team of resin injection operatives at 4pm with Tesco Dot Com taking back the cold store by 7am the following day. All works were to be carried out over the one shift therefore the temperature of the Cold Store would have to be raised as the core temperature of the slab was reading 0.6ºcelcius. with these conditions the resin would be left in a liquid state so the core temperature of the slab needed to be raised with the assistance of our heated floor mats to allow the resin to cure. It took over 3 hours before the slab could receive the application, Once the application had been made and cured, work progressed to grind the slab surface down to a smooth finish and handed over to Tesco Dot Com as not to disrupt their works program.

Day 2/3:
This area required four operatives to repair two fractures and seal junctions between the old and new slabs with Nitofil TH a Thixotopic epoxy resin using a gravity fill system in to the cracks, using a PU Foam gun to form a reservoir and allow a slight head to be created. The cracks were then blown clean of any debris and all loose spalled material removed before ponding the resin over the fractures until the cracks are filled up to the surface. Once the resin had cured the excess material was ground back to the wearing surface.

Willmott Dixon contacted Restek to come up with a solution to the problems of water ingress they were experiencing to there lower basement car park,
On arrival we viewed various areas that were showing signs of water ingress to the lower car park and it was immediately clear that the water infiltration was due to a number of factors and that we would need to work to eliminating each potential cause.

THE SOLUTION !

To adopt a structural Waterproofing injection system with the use of Webac 1660:
We needed to look at encapsulating the rebar with the W1660 to stop any further channels being created.
Through our pressure injection system we were able to do this, it was decided a drilling pattern of 150mm centers that intersected the rebar at 65mm depth was to be adopted.
Once intersected we installed high pressure bore packers in to pre-drilled holes and mechanically fixed in to place, ready to be connected to our specialist pumps.
WEBAC 1660 was also recommended for its ability to seal, bond and stabilise building components as well as its extremely low viscosity.
Through our pressure injection system the resin will begin to encapsulate the rebar, once encapsulated, the channels that the water pressure had opened up would then be plugged and prevent any further tracks being created. The resin can then begin to permeate through the finest of cracks and pores in the concrete enabling the binding of concrete and rebar back together, thus renewing the slab back to its original design specification.
Once the injection process has been undertaken the resin will also provide a watertight seal to the concrete and prevent any further decay of the building components from water infiltration and frost due to the resins displacement of water in the finest of fractures in the injection procedure.

THE FINISHED PROJECT:

Once we completed our Structural water proofing the client was happy that they were able to de-commission all the pumps that they had previously installed to keep the basement from flooding any further, as well as having the confidence in our proven system to cap off all well heads and cast them in concrete.

The Client:
We are so pleased we had been put in touch with RESTEK,
They have managed to seal the water infiltration were 3 other contractors had previously failed.
Our expectations were far exceeded and we are so thankful that we can now had over to our client.
JOB WELL DONE!
T. Downs, Willmott Dixon.

The old farmhouse built in the 1900 was constructed on a sloping site and had been poorly extended in the 1980s.
Poor maintenance of the farms drainage systems meant Rainwater running of the fields had been redirected down the lane and caused saturation of the soil layers and subsequently sediment had begun to wash away, thus causing the settlement of the new additions.

Restek were called in to provide a permanent solution to stabilise the mobile ground.

And all works were successfully carried out over the programmed six days .
