The air feels heavy, the nights aren’t cooling down, and we’re enduring yet another scorcher of a week. ☀️ This is the UK’s third heatwave of 2026. And it’s not just uncomfortable, it’s becoming the norm.

Climate change is no longer a future tense thing. It's something to act on now.

The same sunshine driving these temperatures also presents one of our biggest opportunities - the untapped potential of local solar generation.

Community-owned energy offers organisations a practical way to reduce electricity costs, gain greater long-term price certainty and support a more resilient local energy system - all without the upfront investment or maintenance responsibilities normally associated with solar.

Just as Community Energy England is showcasing, like so many other Community Energy groups across the country, Milton Keynes Community Energy is already delivering this in practice.

This is not a future ambition. It is an active, scalable solution already working across our city.

If your Milton Keynes organisation has roof space, or you are looking for tangible ways to act on climate and rising energy bills, now is the time to explore what is possible.

Get in touch to learn more about how you can turn sunlight into community-owned solar and cut your energy bills and emissions with no capital or operational costs.

We love this video from Thrive Renewables, Community Energy Pathways and Brighton & Hove Energy Services Co-op - BHESCo setting out how community energy presents a local, more stable solution to global energy price shocks that benefits all of us.
Proud to share it!😃

We are also celebrating some good news. MKCE has been backed by MK City Council's Green Business Fund to launch "Community Solar for MK Organisations" - bringing community-owned rooftop solar to local businesses, charities and community buildings, with no upfront cost. We fund and maintain the panels; you simply pay for the energy you use at a cheaper rate.

Thank you to Milton Keynes City Council for supporting local climate action and enabling businesses to access cheaper, cleaner community-owned energy, and to Community Energy England for leading the campaign that is key to unlocking the full potential of community energy and so vital to the UK's communities.
