Sad news today hearing the passing of friend, customer and one of many men who have helped me no end to start and continue my journey, always being supportive and wise with advice.

Many tributes have been made and lots of lovely things said about John.

You will be so missed but your character will never be forgotten. Rest in peace John. Thank you for all you did.

Yesterday Matt Farwell visited us and took his 3 speed single cylinder Fowler ‘Captain Cook’ out for a run about the Cornish lanes after its major overhaul. Thanks to all involved and to the Farwell family.

Two weeks ago today Burrell Showman’s engine ‘Progress’ made her first public re-appearance at the historic Summercourt Fair. In the last 12 months ‘Progress’ received a boiler overhaul along with some mechanical work. Thanks as always to everyone involved (sorry not all people are captured in the photos!) and a big thank you to the Newton Family.

Currently heading back home to Ireland is Declan Lordan’s Clayton traction engine after receiving a boiler overhaul, mechanical rebuild and a complete paint job. Thanks as always to the team (unfortunately some weren’t here yesterday for a final photo) and to Declan and his family for trusting us with their rebuild! Enjoy and safe travels.

It’s Thetford Thursday…..so we’ve been fitting new brake rings and now machining them in our Webster & Bennett vertical borer today for Burrell showman’s engine “The Gladiator”. This machine has a capacity of 7’4” swing, so we have plenty of room to spare!

A few weekends ago Fowler BB1 ploughing engine Berkshire Lady left us to head to Berwick St John’s for her first appearance after a 10 year hydraulic test, new tender, wheel repairs and replacement front tyres, a complete repaint along with many other jobs.
The engine is of great sentimental importance to Dawn, Lauren and Lucy and many will remember Mike Smith on the ploughing fields. We wish them all the best exhibiting this engine in his memory.

James Lockes Wallis heads to Boconnoc Steam Fair tonight for its first ever rally in preservation. From a few pallets of bits and a handful of drawings it’s fair to say this engine has come a long way from being pulled out of a pond.

After being driven in to a pond and left to rot in the late 60’s and several owners before the Locke Family purchased Wallis 7103 in 2013 “Warspite” moved under her own steam for the first time today.

As its ’Fowler Friday’ it’s time to share the first engine that was ‘out the door in ‘24’! This genuine fowler convertible D2 came to us for the boiler work to be completed…shortly to be followed by many mechanical jobs and re-paint and assembly. The owners first event was at the heritage railway where he purchased the engine which was completely stripped down at that time.
