Just wanted to share a quick update on one of our ongoing projects for Caterfood (South West) Ltd., who supply frozen food across Devon.

Their old drive-in freezer had cracked and lifted from frost, so it was time for a new one... We’ve been managing the whole project as principal contractor: coordinating different companies and making sure everything runs smoothly.

So far we’ve:
-Taken out the old freezer and cleared the site;
-Cut up the old concrete and removed it;
-Excavated soft areas and installed land drainage;
-Poured a new concrete pad for the freezer;
-Started building the walls, which will include insulation, a heating pad, and another concrete floor inside.

It’s great seeing it all come together, and it’ll be a strong, durable freezer ready for years of use. 🫡

Galmpton wasn’t a quick in-and-out job...

The site needed proper prep before anything could go in — earthworks, drainage, services, foundations: all done in stages over a few years as the park developed. Access, ground conditions and working around an existing holiday park meant things had to be planned carefully and adjusted as we went.

We took on the groundwork, laid the slabs for the new lodges, and finished off with the hard and soft landscaping so everything tied in properly. Acting as Principal Contractor meant we could keep control of the programme and deal with issues on site as they came up, rather than letting them turn into delays.

One strong relationship we wanted to share...

Complete garden transformation in Torquay 🙌

This property in Torquay is one that naturally needs attention. It has amazing views and a strong architectural presence. Because it is set against the scenic vista of Torbay, it was essential that any external works matched both the setting and the client’s aspirations.

With Newton Abbot Rugby Club – I just got recognised as one of their top fans! 🎉

We had a great time celebrating our Christmas do at Newton Abbot Rugby Club, long-standing partners of ours for many years. It was the perfect setting to round off the year.

A fantastic roast, a brilliant atmosphere, and to top it all off, a home win for the rugby team, can’t ask for much more than that! 🏉🍽️

A big thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the day such a success. We’d also like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Here’s to another positive year ahead!

Another great job completed by the Leys Construction team! 👷‍♂️💪

We’ve recently been working with a Spanish renewable-energy company on a drainage project at a substation in the Court Barton Solar Farm. Our team installed:

🌧️ French drain system
🟦 Two soakaway tanks
🔹 ACO drainage channel around the substation
🪨 Stone up and finish with clean chippings
🚜 All dug-out material levelled to new site levels

This project had to be completed in a very tight timeframe and signed off by National Grid before the solar farm could connect to the main grid, and we’re proud to say the team delivered it on time, in tough weather, and with compliments for a job well done.

Huge shoutout to our hardworking lads who pushed through the poor conditions to get everything finished to our usual high standard. 👏🌧️⚡
