It is with great sadness that i post this, as many of you already know my Dad passed away in the early hrs of Friday morning. π
Thought i should say a little bit about Dad as heβs the man that started me in the construction trade.
I was an apprentice joiner for him @ age 15 and worked with him to i was 20, In 1991 i went out on my own but my father was never to far away to advise me on the right way to do things.
I bought my 1st house in 1992 as i had met a young lady from Banbridge and was getting married in 1993. Dad was the man behind the house, from buying to helping me gut it out and putting it back together.
Then in 1996 i thought to myself i need this man full time with me in my business so Dad started as a foreman and a great set of eyes around the sites. Dad always loved to see me thrive in my business but would tick me off if he thought i needed it. Before retiring he drove a van for me and at school holiday time he always had a passenger with him.
My son Andrew was that person, Dad would pick him up early in the mornings, make his pack lunch & get him chips on a Friday. Diane & I never knew if heβd return home or stay with Granda at Moss Rd.
Dad got the pleasure of seeing his grandson also being involved in the construction trade at a higher level when Andrew qualified as a Civil Engineer. He was so pleased and Andrew always kept him informed on what projects he was involved with too.
Well folks my heart is breaking but as people tell me remember the good times.
Thanks Gavin πβ€οΈ
