Haven’t used your heating all summer? 🔥

With September nearly here, now is a good time to switch your heating on for 10–15 minutes and make sure everything is working properly.

Check that the boiler fires up normally, the radiators start warming and there are no unusual noises or pressure problems.

It’s much better to discover a problem now than on the first cold evening of autumn!

If your boiler is due its annual service, late summer/early autumn is also a good time to get it done before the winter rush.

A nice straightforward upgrade, with the new boiler commissioned, tested and ready for its new owner.

🔧 Why Does My Boiler Keep Losing Pressure?

One of the most common call-outs I receive is:

“My boiler pressure keeps dropping – what does it mean?”

If you’re constantly topping up your boiler, there’s usually an underlying problem that needs investigating.

Some common causes include:

✅ A small leak on the heating system

✅ A faulty expansion vessel

✅ A leaking pressure relief valve

✅ A faulty automatic air vent

✅ Recently bled radiators

While topping the pressure back up may get the heating working again, it won’t fix the underlying fault.

A healthy heating system should normally maintain its pressure for months at a time.

If you’re finding yourself regularly reaching for the filling loop, it’s worth getting the system checked before a small problem turns into a larger repair.
