This last week we have been back to a clients house to carry out some more work on the front of there property, due to severe weathering on the front of the property creating holes in the mortar along side the recession of the mortar.🏠

We carried out the rake and repoint of cement and lime mortar , which we found out from last time after taking the old mortar out and testing it and breaking it down to see what it had been made of , that way we can reapply the same mortar or a like for like.✅

We raked the property out to a depth of 25-30mm with a dust extraction attached to the grinder to suppress the dust. We also had to carry out some repairs to the brickwork on the lower level of the original house due to extreme weathering / brick spalling, these were replaced and reinstated with lime mortar. 🧱💥

We Wrapped This patio area up a few weeks ago and made it look fresh!!💪

We started by thoroughly raking out the old joints and power washing the entire patio to remove dirt and grime, getting it ready for restoration.

We then lifted and relaid the loose slabs that had been incorrectly bedded, making sure they were properly rebedded using priming slurry for a strong, secure finish.

Once everything was in place, we repointed the patio using a two-part epoxy resin in Natural Buff, giving the joints a clean, neat and professional finish.

To complete the job, we sealed the patio to help protect it and enhance its overall appearance.

A fresh look for this bungalow’s gable end, with all the old mortar carefully raked out and the joints thoroughly cleaned before repointing with a new sand and cement mortar mix.🧱

Finished with a crisp bucket handle joint and a light brush for a neat, consistent finish. 👌

Stone cottage restoration 🏠

The existing cement pointing was causing the natural stone to perish and crumble, so we carefully removed the hard mortar and restored the joints using NHL 3.5 lime and plastering sand. 💥

We removed the pointing up to 2.2m around the house with the other half of the house being done in the next coming year now the clients understand the damage and situation that the house is in aswell as it being suited to their budget for the property. ✅

We also replaced several stones that had deteriorated beyond repair, bringing the damaged areas back into keeping with the original stonework. ⚒️

A traditional restoration using the right materials for the building, with a clean finish that preserves its character. 🧱

Headed up to Yorkshire to transform this home safe to say the travel was well worth it for the transformation that took place 💥

The client kindly offered to rake out the old mortars from lime mortars to repairs with cement mortars in this property all was raked out to a depth of 20-25mm ready for the new lime mortar to go in.

We offered two mortar samples in this project and the client then picked which mortar that they liked and what they thought matched the previous originally mortar.

55m² Indian Sandstone Patio – Restoration & Repointing.

We recently completed works to this 55m² Indian sandstone patio, including raking out the existing joints and relaying approximately 50 slabs that had previously been spot-bedded and incorrectly installed. 🧱

We also have it a chemical clean down making sure it was fresh and clean for the new pointing to be added. 💦

The slabs were lifted, prepared with a slurry bond, and correctly re-bedded onto a sharp sand and cement mix to provide a solid, fully supported base. 🦺

• The patio was then repointed throughout using a sand and cement mix, leaving a strong, clean and professional finish. ✅

Another patio restored and completed to a high standard.💯

🧱 Another structural repair completed by Miles Brickwork.
This garage had suffered from structural movement, resulting in cracking and weakened masonry. We installed a Helibar reinforcement system to stitch and strengthen the affected brickwork, helping to restore stability and provide a long-lasting repair.

The Helibar system was then carefully repointed over using Blue Circle mortar supplied by the customer, leaving a neat and durable finish to complete the repair.

Over the last few days we have been back to visit a project we was lucky to be apart of.

We finally unwrapped this one which has been covered in hessian for the last few weeks to protect it from the harsh heat and sun we have had over the last few weeks but it was definitely worth the wait.

We raked and repointed this 1900’s property in Peterborough we also put some helibar / helical stainless steel bars in to give it some strength again as a previous bricklayer had been and fitted a new lintel over the door opening but by doing that he had loosened the brickwork above , so while we raked out and repointed the rest we cut back where the cracks where to a depth of 40-50 mm and installed some helibars.

All repointing was replaced with NHL 3.5 lime raked out to a depth of 25-30mm.
