🔥 Fireplace Repointing Completed Today

This fireplace had suffered from failed pointing, with mortar falling away from the joints. We carefully raked out all the loose material and repointed the brickwork using lime mortar with a flush finish, maintaining the character of the fireplace while restoring its strength.

We also repointed the hearth stones to complete the repair.

🏡 Stone Garden Wall Repointing Completed

This stone garden wall had suffered significant deterioration to its pointing due to years of exposure to harsh weather conditions. Over time, the mortar had eroded, leaving the wall vulnerable to further damage and reducing its overall strength.

We carefully removed the failed mortar and repointed the wall using a traditional lime mortar with a gritty mix, providing a finish that is both durable and sympathetic to the original stonework.

Stone restoration project recently completed by Miles Brickwork with a helping hand from Northcott Stone Works

This 1700s stone property had all existing cementitious pointing carefully removed and replaced with a breathable lime mortar, more suitable for the age and construction of the building.

We also carried out selective stone replacements where required, helping to preserve the character and integrity of the property while ensuring a long-lasting finish.

A great project to be involved in and another building restored using traditional materials and methods.

Completed another rewarding restoration project this week in kings Cliffe with a helping hand from Northcott Stone Works ✔️

This job involved removing old paint from a stone wall, carefully raking out failed joints, and repointing throughout using NHL 3.5 lime mixed with plastering sand and sharp sand. We also carried out stone replacements where needed as part of the client’s home renovation.

Traditional materials and the right methods make all the difference when restoring old stonework properly. Great to see this wall brought back to its original character again.

Another one under our the belt.

We have finished this rake and repoint on a property in Thurlby.

A Client contacted us in regards to having his property repointed , he had already given it a go on his own and found out that it was very time consuming while having ago and enjoying the process his found out it was too much for him, we then took over the process once contacted and changed the appearance on his 1880s house.

Using premixed nhl 3.5 lime that he had previously been using we carried out a rake and repoint of the property , which has now been completed but coming into warmer weather this property will now under go misting on the lime to cure it at a slower rate and slow the curing process down as if it c
ures to quick it will crack and not bind.

This property was pointed with a flush finish with stippling/ churning brush finish with a polish up with a finer horsehair brush to bring the aggregate to the surface to help with weathering.

Now just waiting for scaffold to be removed to show the whole property in its entirety.
