Jbs are pleased to announce the successful completion of a Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) for an ATEX-certified screw conveyor, designed for operation within a Zone 1 hazardous area.

This 14” diameter, 72 ft long screw conveyor, complete with a 21kW drive system, has been specifically engineered for deployment on a drillship operating in the Mediterranean and delivered to a highly valued repeat client.

As the original equipment manufacturer (OEM), we are committed to delivering high-quality, robust solutions that perform reliably in the most demanding environments. The continued confidence of our returning clients is a testament to the durability, reliability, and performance of our equipment.

When the Unthinkable Happens — Are You Protected?

Recently, a major incident highlighted just how critical secondary containment can be in high-energy industrial environments.

An extremely large fan experienced catastrophic failure — the impeller disintegrated into heavy-duty steel sections, breaching the fan casing and dispersing fragments across the site.

Thankfully, the situation is now under repair, but it raises an essential question: What if there was a way to contain the impact before it became a hazard?

Jbs blast curtains provide a powerful secondary containment solution, designed to absorb and control the energy from unexpected mechanical failures like this.

For this application, Jbs developed a blast containment wrap to reinforce the fan casing as a secondary safety measure. The system is designed to contain high-energy debris in the event of primary containment failure.

Operating at surface temperatures of up to 300 °C was a key design consideration, so our Firemax® high-temperature product was integrated

into the blast curtain assembly. This ensures durability under sustained heat while maintaining impact resistance, resulting in a combined thermal and mechanical protection solution for high-risk equipment.

Jbs completed the design, manufacture, and on-site installation of the blast containment solution.

As our business within the Space sector continues to grow, this week our engineers Davie and Arran are in Los Angeles, carrying out a site survey for our client who is building next-generation space stations.

As a valued repeat customer, we are back on-site surveying, ahead of extending, our bespoke blast containment solution.

A recent project saw Jbs design and fabricate a bespoke offshore structure, incorporating an integrated internal stair module and precision-engineered connection points for installation onto existing infrastructure.

The structure was fully trial-fitted at our Peterhead facility prior to mobilisation, ensuring alignment, build quality and installation efficiency were all validated before deployment offshore.

This approach reflects Jbs’ long-standing commitment to engineering discipline and fabrication accuracy – reducing risk, saving time during installation and providing confidence at every stage of delivery.

From concept through to fabrication and final fit, projects like this demonstrate the strength of our in-house capability and the value of getting the detail right early.

Jbs has completed the fabrication and installation of a bespoke tank cleaning platform for a leading global firm.

Manufactured at our Peterhead headquarters, the platform was designed to meet specific operational requirements, with an emphasis on structural integrity, safe access and long-term durability.

Following fabrication, the structure was transported and installed on site in the North-east of Scotland, with the Jbs team managing the scope from workshop build through to final positioning.

Projects such as this reflect the strength of our in-house fabrication capability - delivering tailored engineering solutions that support day-to-day operational needs.
