CONTRACT AWARDED 👌🤙

Following a successful few weeks at Harwood Dental Practice, where we completed the chimney rendering works and carried out repairs across the entire roofline, we are pleased to announce that AKM Group Chimney Repair Specialists have now been awarded the contract to undertake the external painting works to the building.

It is always a great achievement when a customer is happy enough with our workmanship to entrust us with further projects, and we would like to thank Harwood Dental Practice for their continued confidence in our company.

A few progress photos from our Tavistock project this week.

We've now completed the top coat render on 2 of the 4 chimneys being carried out on this property and they're looking great. This is a sizeable project with a substantial amount of work being undertaken across the roof.

Still to follow are the remaining 2 chimneys, along with full roof maintenance, maintenance to the lead dormers, lead flat roofs and various other repairs being carried out on the property.

Made solid progress on our dental practice project in Tavistock this week.

All 4 chimneys have now been hacked off, with all brick repairs completed, including several large sections of loose masonry carefully taken down and rebuilt.

All chimneys have also now received their scratch coat and are fully prepared ready for beading next week, followed by top coating towards the end of next week once temperatures are slightly lower.

This is a large ongoing project consisting of:

✅ 4 full chimney renders
✅ Full roof maintenance
✅ Gutter maintenance
✅ 2 lead dormer maintenance works
✅ 1 lead flat roof maintenance repair
✅ Extensive maintenance to a large lead bay roof
✅ Installation of new drip beads
✅ Various additional repairs identified during the works

Plenty still to do on this one, but everything is progressing well so far.

Photos and videos will be posted once we get further along into the project.

Chimney flaunching renewal and lead maintenance completed in Ivybridge this week.

The old flaunching had started cracking and breaking away around the chimney pots, allowing water into the top of the stack. We renewed the flaunching and carried out lead maintenance at the same time to get everything sealed back up properly.

✅ Chimney flaunching renewed

✅ Stack checked over and sealed correctly
✅ Site left clean and tidy afterwards

One of those jobs that gets ignored for too long until it starts causing bigger problems internally.

A busy week for the team at AKM Group Chimney Repair Specialists. This chimney needed half stack restoration and we delivered a complete professional finish.

Work carried out:

✅ Scaffolding erected
✅ Half the chimney hacked off
✅ Mundic block discovered inside the stack
✅ Rebuilt the weakened centre section
✅ SBR primer applied
✅ Lead maintenance completed
✅ Scratch coat applied
✅ New drip beads added
✅ New corner beads added
✅ Float coat applied
✅ Tyrolean coat applied to match the house
✅ Partial flaunch formed
✅ Three blanking cowls fitted
✅ All waste removed correctly

We also carried out a bay window re slating job while on site, although we are not advertising this service as we want to keep our posts focused on chimney work. However all small roof jobs are taken on.

Another chimney restored and protected for many years to come.

We have been in North Devon this week carrying out a chimney rebuild on a property where the original stack was dangerously leaning.

Our team lowered it down to a safe level and rebuilt the chimney in block to ensure long term stability and strength.

The job included:

✅ New drip beads and corner beads installed
✅ Float coat
✅ New chimney pot and cowl fitted
✅ Tyrolean top coat
