Quite a few damaged doors again at the moment delivered by the customers supplier when I arrive to fit them and check them. Upon opening. Like this weekends job.

If I could remind anyone that is getting doors delivered before I fit them, if they could check them for damage at least a few days before I arrive please.

I'm going to try to come up with some reasonable T's & C's on my website when I get time.

I lost 23 days helping customers out due to this issue last year so if I can halve that number this year it will be a great start!

Another week and yet another call from one of my regulars that had a Wren kitchen fitted a few years ago that has done the all so common Wren trick of the door laminate coming away from the door itself.

10s of thousands of customers across the UK suffering this fate they offer to replace the doors and that's ok but the doors are always discontinued due to them knowing of the mass production faults and thus they have to replace EVERYTHING with a new colour! So the panels, cornice everything. And you can't get the panels out without taking the whole kitchen apart and basically refitting it.

And you can imagine all the disruption this causes to everything else including the tiling etc.

Wren closed all their US branches overnight a few weeks ago and left everyone that gave a deposit in the lurch. And I can only imagine them having to replace full kitchens in the UK in the numbers they are doing over the past few years is putting their viability under pressure.

Another reason that I wouldn't go with them in my opinion. A lot of us remember MFI going under back in the day!

And another reason that I mainly use Howdens Kitchens.

Anyway related to this abomination of a photo, we can fit solid laminate work surfaces to a good standard but for your info it's generally a bit more cost wise than fitting chipboard laminate worktops when you factor in time taken, spine ruptures lifting the bloody things and more saw, router and jointer blades that have to be bought and thrown away due to it being close to iron in how hard it is to machine.

We've changed the doors on this kitchen this week to a much more suitable beige shaker traditional design that the customer chose and got rid of the cream gloss.

It goes with the rest of the kitchen far better and the customer is made up with it. ☺️
