We recently welcomed Connor Richardson, a Year 9 student from Park Academy High School, for a work shadow day at our Northwick Park project, where his grandad, Robert Bertram, is Senior Project Manager.

His grandad, dad and cousin have all built careers in scaffolding.

Connor hopes to follow the same path as an apprentice.

His enthusiasm and commitment were clear. Exactly the kind of attitude that builds a strong career in construction.

We wish him every success and hope to see him back at Lee Marley Group before long.

Seven months into his bricklaying apprenticeship, Nathaniel has achieved a distinction in the Traditional Cavity Wall Check Test at Lee Marley Academy. 🧱

As a voluntary stretch and challenge addition to his test, Nathaniel completed two decorative banding techniques, incorporating:

🔹A dentil course, creating a repeating tooth-like pattern
🔹A dog tooth course with bricks laid at 45 degrees, forming a zig-zag profile

The quality of this work is a credit to Nathaniel’s commitment and to the expertise of the Academy training team supporting his development.

A well-deserved distinction, Nathaniel.

A proud moment for Lee Marley Academy 🧱

Our brickwork apprentices recently had the opportunity to meet Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Work and Pensions Secretary Pat McFadden during a visit to London South Bank Technical College, centred on skills, apprenticeships and technical education.

For our apprentices, moments like this extend far beyond the classroom. Alongside developing real technical ability on site, they are building confidence, communication skills and professional awareness that will serve them throughout their careers in construction.

Apprenticeships are one of the most powerful routes into this industry, creating long-term, meaningful careers for the next generation of tradespeople. We are proud to see our apprentices representing the Academy and the wider construction sector so well.

Phase 3 is now underway at Abbey Quay, Barking.

Since 2021, the Lee Marley team has delivered scaffold access solutions across this 1,098-unit residential development for Weston Homes, supporting multiple high-rise blocks, including a 95-metre, 30-storey tower.

Works throughout the project have included suspended gantry beams, cantilever sections, structural lifts and specialist engineered scaffold solutions, all delivered within a constrained live environment.

With four additional blocks now progressing as part of Phase 3, we are proud to continue supporting the next stage of Abbey Quay’s delivery.

The Oval Gas Holder stands as one of London’s most distinctive scaffold structures.

Delivered for Berkeley St Edward at Oval Village, overlooking the Kia Oval, the scaffold rises 44 metres around and within the original Grade II listed frame, supporting complex refurbishment works within a highly constrained environment.

From ground to skyline, the structure demanded exact coordination, planning and precision within a curved and historic form.

Heritage structure and modern construction working within a single frame.

A standout project for our scaffolding team and a rare structure to experience at this scale.

Scaffolding is one of construction’s most skilled trades.

This week, we had the opportunity to show that to the next generation.

In partnership with Department for Work & Pensions and Taylor Wimpey, we welcomed candidates from the London Borough of Tower Hamlets to our Leven Road site for a scaffolding careers workshop, delivered as part of the NASC Work Experience Pledge.

From career guidance and apprenticeship pathways to a live construction site tour, participants gained a genuine first look at what the profession offers.

Connecting local communities with real opportunities in construction is something we are committed to.

Our thanks to Lisa Beresford at Taylor Wimpey, Jennifer Ansa at DWP, and to our team, Sara Calvo, Gill Peltier, Jimmy Humby and George Stedmond, for leading the session.
