New installation that was completed this week.
This rural property has no mains gas or alternative fuel apart from electric.
The previous thermal store/ combi has been problematic for years and extremely expensive to rum.
I advised to have a Heat pump as the property met the requirements as reasonably well insulated etc but due to the financial outlay and having the unit outside wasn’t ideal for them.
So the alternative option was an indirect system using 12kw Amptec boiler and incorporating unvented hot water. System much better. Increased hot water flow, fast recovery and far less demand on the juice. Supply checked via Electrician and new 50amp RCBO upgrade at consumer board. 💪👍🏻

Another busy year, just a few installs that were done in 2024.
Our contribution to the kitchen transformation one, an old 18th century property the new heating & hot water system made a massive improvement throughout this three story home.
80% of our work is repairing & servicing, working to repair old systems bringing back to life, until the time comes where it’s irreparable or not financially viable.
Most cases to improve overall efficiency through the home.😊

Another recently completed conversion from an old open vent gravity system, balanced flue’d non efficient boiler with old school hot water storage, noisy shower pump etc etc.
Installation of TOTRange VAILLANT remastered 625 system boiler with the added conversion to unvented hot water. 4 bed.
Full system rewire Nest control for heat & hot water.
All commissioned, set up ready for client.

Recent boiler replacement KESTON Heat2 55-60kw with added heating filter.
Had to keep with Keston due to the twin flue requirements.
The previous Heat1 had failed due to the aluminium heat exchanger had formed an internal leak.
The boilers are heavily used in this establishment.
Surprisingly a new Heat exchanger is more expensive than whole new unit, hence the change. 🤔😊

This post isn’t about promoting work it’s more about why?
Recently visited an elderly couple over in Newbury, they had an issue with a leaking hot water cylinder less than a year ago, completely vulnerable to whoever they call.
They spoke with a emergency company who they had out to deal with the leak but unfortunately were left with no hot water pressure at any of the draw offs, ie hot tap’s!
They returned and fitted this ridiculous fortic low head cylinder in a ground floor flat. Why? They took any hot water flow they had? This isn’t rocket science for any plumber!!
They could of at least raised the cylinder inline with the current set up to give some hot water flow but they gave them nothing except a basic job with more problems to contend with! Why?
Plus set them back over 1k with hardly any hot water to the kitchen mixer. Poor advice, poor installation.
So after discussing options ie raising cylinder or adding noisy pump they were keen to have a proper job done. Fully installed a direct unvented hot water cylinder with a decent inline scale preventer, fair amount of pipework alternations definitely with discharge. Hot water delivery now as it should be, loads of pressure, very happy couple.
Just unfortunate they had to have it changed again within a year as it was unbearable to live with. 🤨👎🏻
