🌟 Celebrating Women in Construction🌟

This Women in Construction Week, we’re shining a light on the extraordinary women making an impact at Knights Brown. In celebrating their achievements, sharing their stories, and amplifying their voices, we hope to inspire the next generation.

Not surprisingly, many didn’t anticipate having a career in construction, which is why we’re keen to highlight the opportunities available. Women contribute unique skills and perspectives, and as these inspiring individuals show, can truly flourish in this environment.

We’re dedicated to welcoming more women into our industry, in roles as varied as quantity surveyors, engineers and site supervisors, to business development managers.

Our video shares their insights for anyone considering a career in construction. In aligning with this year’s theme, "Together We Rise," their views emphasise the importance of inclusivity, support and collaboration. We’re proud to see more women joining our industry every year.

We’re keen to help girls recognise the possibilities open to them and are advocates of starting the journey early with the introduction of STEM education in schools. With support and encouragement we can ensure girls and women have the skills to overcome barriers, support one another, and contribute their talents in construction.

We are committed to creating an environment for women to thrive and lead. In sharing our female colleagues’ stories, we hope to encourage many more to explore our careers and join us in building a bright future.

📢 Exciting news! We are finalising the bus priority improvements on the A326 at Marchwood Bypass and the approach works to Rushington Roundabout, Southampton.

Appointed by Hampshire County Council back in 2023.

The team have worked tirelessly in all weather conditions to ensure that the scheme is completed on schedule.

Improvements include:

▶ A new bus lane on Marchwood Bypass approach to Rushington Roundabout including associated kerb drainage system and street lighting
▶ Improved crossing point on Marchwood Bypass close to Rushington Roundabout and associated signal works
▶ Relocation and widening of existing shared use cycle/footway facilities between Parkside and Arnold Clark including associated drainage ditch improvements and renewal of street lighting
▶ Renewal of carriageway surfacing between Rushington Roundabout and Jacobs Gutter Lane
▶ New bus gate on A326 including associated signals, drainage, carriageway surfacing and vehicle restraint system
▶ New crossing point between Bull Copse Road and Marchwood Bypass connecting to two new bus stops on Marchwood Bypass
▶ Widening existing pavement on Bull Copse Road.

The benefits of this scheme include improved bus journey times and reliability and waiting passengers will benefit from new bus shelters.

📣 Thrilled to announce that we've been appointed by Portsmouth City Council to deliver the final phase of the North Portsea Coastal Scheme.

Improvements will take place along Ports Creek in North Portsea and will include 1.9 km of flood defences.

The design consists of a sloped earth embankment, which provides the required flood defence level, with a rock armour toe.

🚶‍♀️ 🏞 New seating, play and viewing areas along the coastal path route will create a more enjoyable environment.

🐦 A range of nest boxes will be put up before clearance activities start.

New bat boxes will be put up in the woodland areas and kingfishers will benefit from tunnels which will be added as another area for nesting.

🏠 The defences across the whole scheme will safeguard more than 4,000 homes and almost 500 businesses.

🚀 Construction kicks off next week.
