✨ Hidden Wonders of the Ancient World ✨

Think you know the greatest ancient monuments? Think again. Beyond the Pyramids and Stonehenge lie forgotten treasures—mysterious temples, underwater ruins, and entire underground cities—that most people have never even heard of. 🏛️🌍

From a massive stone pyramid in China to a submerged monument off Japan’s coast, these places prove that ancient civilisations were far more advanced and diverse than we imagine.

In our light-polluted world, it’s easy to forget that stars once defined the rhythms of life. A star mirror asks us to slow down, to let the wind drop and the water still, and to simply watch.

For as long as humans have looked up, we’ve sought ways to bring the stars closer. Some built colossal stone monuments aligned with the…

🌅✨ Twice a year, the world stands in perfect balance.
On these rare days, the Sun rises exactly in the east and sets exactly in the west, casting light that ancient builders captured in stone with breathtaking precision.

From the serpent shadows of Chichén Itzá to the great rings of Stonehenge, the equinox has been a moment of awe, ritual, and renewal for thousands of years.

Equinar will bring that same magic to life — here, in our own time — letting visitors feel the balance of the cosmos in a way they’ll never forget.

🌠 Introducing Equinar – A Structure for the Ages

For years, I’ve been dreaming of a place that reconnects us with the cosmos — not through screens, but through stone, shadow, and silence.

Today, I’ve taken the first real step toward building it.

Equinar is a unique, long-term project to create a physical space where people can experience the beauty of the sky in ways that feel ancient, spiritual, and cinematic. Built with both traditional craft and precise astronomical alignments, it will mark the solstices, full moons, and stellar events for centuries to come.

I've written a piece that explains the heart of the vision, why it matters now more than ever, and how I’m drawing on my past to shape something truly timeless. I hope you'll give it a read:

✨ Ever seen the Milky Way with your own eyes?
In the UK, it’s still possible — if you know where to go.

I've written a new piece exploring the most powerful, peaceful and awe-inspiring dark sky sites across the UK. From Northumberland to Snowdonia, these places offer something we’ve almost forgotten: silence, darkness, and a chance to look up.

🌟 Why I'm Building for 1,000 Years 🌟
Most structures today fade long before our children grow up. But what if we dared to build something that could outlast us by centuries?

That’s the question I explore in my latest Medium essay. Drawing on my roots as a surveyor and researcher, I’m embarking on a journey to create a site—built with enduring materials, precise alignment, and emotional resonance—that could still stand 1,000 years from now.
I examine what makes buildings last—materials, meaning, memory—and consider architecture not just as form, but as legacy.
In an age of speed and obsolescence, I’m committed to designing something that lasts. If you’re curious about constructing not just space, but something timeless, this might resonate.

🌌 I'm building something timeless.
In a world full of noise, speed, and distraction — I’m creating a place where people can reconnect with the sky in a way that’s ancient, meaningful, and unforgettable.

This isn’t just architecture. It’s alignment.
A modern-day sanctuary where the sun, moon, and stars meet stone, shadow, and silence.

Read why I’ve started building a celestial structure for the ages — inspired by my surveying roots, the rise in cosmology and consciousness, and the timeless pull of the skies.

🌌 Why do the world’s oldest structures point to the sky?

This piece explores how aligning with the sun, moon, and stars isn’t just ancient tradition — it’s a way to build meaning that lasts for millennia.

Why do some buildings last for centuries while others vanish without a trace?

We explores how faith — in all its forms — both preserves and destroys architecture. From cathedrals that become sacred ruins to temples repurposed or forgotten, it asks a timeless question:
What makes a structure worth saving?

If you're drawn to architecture, history, or the deeper meaning behind the spaces we build and abandon, this is a must-read.

Would you let the vultures take your body when you die?

High on desolate hilltops in Iran and India stand crumbling stone circles called “Towers of Silence.” These weren’t fortresses or observatories...
They were cemeteries.
But not the kind you're thinking of.

Built by the Zoroastrians—one of the world’s oldest religions—these eerie structures served a sacred purpose:
🕊️ Exposing the dead to the elements and birds of prey.

Why?
Zoroastrians believed that corpses were spiritually and physically impure. Burying them would pollute the earth. Burning them would pollute fire.
So they took a third option:
✨ Let nature recycle the body, and let the soul move on.

At the top of each tower was a flat, circular platform. Bodies were arranged in rings—men in the outer ring, women in the middle, children in the center—and left for vultures to consume.

Within a matter of hours… only bones remained.

Eventually, the bones would be placed in a central well, where they’d slowly return to the earth without polluting it.

💀 A practice so old and sacred that even modern archaeologists tread carefully when studying the ruins.

Some say the towers were built to align with constellations. Others whisper that the Zoroastrians knew something we’ve forgotten—that death isn’t an end, but a transformation.

🕯️ What do you think?
Respectful return to nature… or something too chilling to imagine?
