Good afternoon everybody , I really hope if you are lucky enough to be away , that you are having a fantastic time .
This question has been asked many times on different forums about putting a normal household fridge in a caravan or motorhome
I know people have done this . However they are not fit for purpose to be fitted in a leisure vehicle that will travel along the road .
If these were suitable, don't you think Indesit, hoover , beko etc would be queuing up to sell to the manufacturers of leisure vehicles .
Fridges are expensive, not only to repair , but also to replace . Please remember that they don't fit through the access door , in a caravan they have to come through front window and in a motorhome through the passenger door .
How to look after your 3 way fridge .
Here are some tips for fridge care , I have mentioned in past posts .
If you don't have the luxury of being able to plug in at home the night before .e packs in the fridge when travelling , on arrival, start the fridge on gas everytime .
The ammonia in the cooling unit needs to be heated , and gas is the best option , as the electric element takes a long time . On gas it will get to temp very quickly . Once to temp switch to ehu .
Now I know there will be people saying I always use the ehu because I'm paying for it . That's fine that's your choice .
I'm just trying to help people increase the life of their fridge .
The same with hot water, heat it on gas it takes much less time than ehu . And keeps it all in good repair .
I hope this has been helpful
