🤹 Balancing motherhood and a degree apprenticeship - here's Chloe Bullock's story

As an assistant quantity surveyor, Chloe works on our South West Water 🌊 framework whilst studying for her degree in construction quantity surveying through a degree apprenticeship 🎓

Chloe's journey into the industry is a fascinating one, starting her career in temporary roles, eventually specialising in in-house recruitment and clinical commissioning before joining Kier 🏗️

Keen to learn more about construction and enhance her skills, 💪 Chloe enrolled onto the Kier Degree programme.

"My first 2 years, I did the commuting to Sheffield from Cornwall, but given the fact I have two young children, it was hard to make it work for my family 👨‍👩‍👦‍👦

"I spoke to my manager, a recent graduate from the same course, and I'll be resuming with an online training provider.

"I can hands down say Kier is the best company I've ever worked for, they have just been so accommodating for me," Chloe shares.

In this role, you'll be working within the maintenance team, supporting in key essential works. These works will include driving gritting vehicles to spread salt onto the roads during colder days and nights, keeping our roads safe and moving.

If you're able to be flexible to suit rota needs, and hold a current LGV class two licence as well as CPC accreditation, do take a look at this opportunity!

Did you know, that as a Kier employee you could use your volunteering days to go on a trip to Paris? 🥐

In our latest blog, we caught up with Evie Marsden, a quantity surveyor at Kier to find out about how she did this.

In her spare time, Evie volunteers as a unit leader for GirlGuiding. GirlGuiding is a charity organisation that gives girls and women the opportunity to come together to learn new skills, to volunteer in their local communities and go on trips as a group. 👧

Evie, and some of her fellow unit leads recently took a group of Guides on a trip to Paris - and Evie didn't even need to use her annual leave!
