🎉 Welcome to Heb Group, Jes Astley!

We're delighted to welcome Jes Astley to Heb Group as our new Business Development Manager for the Northwest.

With more than 12 years of experience in the electrical and building services sector, Jes brings a wealth of industry knowledge, having built an impressive career spanning office administration, business development and energy management. Most recently, she spent seven years at Atkore, progressing from Specification Executive to UK Energy Manager.

Jes is passionate about building strong relationships, creating opportunities and helping businesses grow, making her a fantastic addition to our Northwest team as we continue to strengthen our presence across the region.

Speaking about joining Heb Group, Jes said:
"One of the things that really attracted me to Heb was the culture. The support and value placed on people stood out straight away, and I believe the way a company treats its employees is reflected in how it looks after its customers."

Outside of work, Jes enjoys cooking, hosting friends and performing with local theatre group NWTAC, where she regularly takes part in musical and theatre productions.

And a fun fact about Jes? She used to be a professional dancer! 💃

Please join us in giving Jes a warm welcome and wishing her every success in her new role.

💙 Men's Health Week UK | 15th - 21st June

When was the last time you checked in on your own wellbeing?

We're often quick to look after our projects, deadlines, customers, colleagues, friends and family. But when it comes to our own health, many of us put it to the bottom of the list.

This Men's Health Week, let's change that.

Whether it's booking a health check, getting outside for a walk, talking to someone you trust, or simply asking a mate how they're doing, small actions can have a big impact.

And whilst we're all keeping an eye on our World Cup sweepstake teams, don't forget to keep an eye on yourself too. ⚽

A conversation could change a life.

For anyone working in engineering, construction, facilities management, cleaning, or the wider built environment, Mates in Mind provides excellent support and resources:

🧼 A cleaner environment can make a big difference.

Every day, hundreds of pupils, staff, and visitors pass through the doors of Hunningley Primary Academy School, and over time that footfall naturally takes its toll on carpets and flooring.

Recently, our Cleaning & Hygiene team carried out a specialist carpet cleaning programme across the school, using professional equipment and cleaning techniques to remove embedded dirt, staining, and everyday build-up from high-traffic areas.

✨ The transformation was immediate.

Not only did the carpets look cleaner and brighter, but the deep clean also helped improve overall hygiene standards and refresh the learning environment for everyone using the facility.

🏫 Clean, well maintained schools create a more welcoming space for pupils, staff, and visitors alike, while also helping to protect flooring assets and extend their lifespan.

👏 A fantastic effort from Ian Leech and the team, who delivered the works professionally and with minimal disruption to the school's day-to-day operations.

Because behind every great learning environment is a team working hard to keep it clean, safe, and ready for the day ahead.

Most people probably drove past this sign without giving it a second thought.

Jess Jessop, our Reactive Team Supervisor, didn't.

While out working in Sheffield, Jess noticed a road sign that had become difficult to read and took a few minutes to clean it up. No request. No obligation. Just a simple decision to leave something a little better than he found it.

It's a small gesture, but when hundreds of people use that road every day, having clear and visible signage can make a real difference.

At Heb Cleaning & Hygiene + Security, we're fortunate to have people like Jess who take pride not only in the work they do for our clients, but also in the communities they work within.

Sometimes it's the little things that say the most about the people behind a business.

Well done Jess!

⚽ Supporting a Cause Close to Our Hearts ❤️

Across Heb Group, colleagues have come together to take part in our World Cup 2026 Sweepstake, raising money for the Children's Heart Surgery Fund (CHSF).

This is a charity that means a great deal to many people within our business following the incredible support they have provided to one of our own families. Their work helps children with congenital heart disease and their families by funding vital equipment, facilities, research, and support services that make a real difference when it's needed most.

It's been fantastic to see people from across our Mechanical & Electrical, Facilities Management, and Cleaning & Hygiene divisions getting involved, all while supporting a truly worthwhile cause.

We're proud to have raised funds through the sweepstake and would encourage anyone who would like to learn more about the charity and the amazing work they do to visit their website: https://chsf.org.uk/

A huge thank you to everyone who has entered and contributed. Good luck to all those taking part in the draw, and thank you for helping us support a charity that changes lives every single day.

Recognising the next generation 👏

At Heb Group, we believe it’s important to recognise the people who are making a real impact across the business, and recently Callum Hill has been highlighted internally for the attitude, effort, and progression he has shown throughout his apprenticeship journey.

From day one, Callum has approached every opportunity with the right mindset, showing a willingness to learn, develop, and get stuck in across the business. The feedback from the team around his work ethic and attitude has been incredibly positive, and it’s great to see the progress he continues to make.

Investing in apprenticeships and developing future talent remains a huge part of what we do as a business. It’s important that young people are given the opportunity, support, and environment to grow, and equally important that their hard work is recognised along the way.

Well done Callum, keep up the good work 👏

Great to have George Fretwell-Walker with us over the last two weeks completing his work experience placement with our People, Brand & Responsibility team at Heb Group.

During his time with us, George gained an insight into the day-to-day running of a people-powered business, spending time learning more about branding, communications, internal culture, and how different teams across the group work together to support the wider business.

At Heb Group, we believe work experience placements are an important way of helping young people build confidence, gain practical experience, and better understand the wide range of career opportunities available within our industry. Supporting future talent through placements, apprenticeships, and local engagement remains a big part of who we are as a business.

A big thank you to George for all of his effort and enthusiasm over the last two weeks, we wish him all the best for the future.

We’re currently looking to appoint a Group Health, Safety & Environmental Manager to join Heb Group.

This is a key role within the business, supporting the delivery of health, safety, environmental, and compliance standards across our Mechanical & Electrical, Facilities Management, Cleaning & Hygiene + Security divisions.

At Heb Group, health and safety is more than compliance. It’s embedded into how we operate across every project, site, and team. We’re looking for someone who shares that mindset and can help drive continuous improvement across the group as we continue to grow.

The role offers the opportunity to work across a wide range of sectors and live operational environments, supporting projects and services delivered from our Sheffield, Doncaster, Leeds, and Northwest teams.

If you’re an experienced HS&E professional looking to join a people powered business with over 100 years of history, we’d love to hear from you.

Behind every successful project is a strong working relationship 🤝

That’s something we’re proud to continue building with GMI Construction across a number of live developments throughout the region.

From Foss Islands Student Accommodation in York to the Freshney Place Shopping Centre redevelopment in Grimsby, our Leeds and Sheffield teams are currently working closely alongside GMI to help deliver these schemes safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

What makes partnerships like this work is the people behind them. Open communication, trust on site, and teams pulling in the same direction make a huge difference on fast moving projects, especially across large, multi-team developments.

It’s great to be working with a contractor that shares the same mindset around collaboration, quality, and delivery, and we’re looking forward to continuing that relationship as these projects progress.

Mental Health Awareness Week is a reminder that sometimes the most important conversations are the ones we don’t always see happening.

Construction, engineering, FM and cleaning can be fast-paced, high-pressure industries, and it’s important that people know they don’t have to deal with things on their own.

At Heb Group, we’re continuing to build a culture where looking after mental wellbeing is treated with the same importance as physical safety. That means encouraging open conversations, checking in with each other, and making sure support is there when people need it.

Alongside the awareness work being highlighted this week by organisations, we’re also proud to have trained Mental Health First Aiders across the business, people our teams can speak to confidentially if they’re struggling, feeling overwhelmed, or simply need someone to listen.

Sometimes asking “Are you alright?” can make more difference than you realise.

No one should suffer in silence.
