We took delivery of this beautiful Prunus serrula (Tibetan Cherry) from earlier this week. That glossy paper bark is going to be such a feature in this garden. 🌳✨
The plan was to use wooden stakes for support while the roots got settled, but once the clay pavers went in around it, that wasn’t really an option — we didn’t want to damage the rootball or the new paving.
With storm Benjamin on the way, we had to think fast! A few tree ties, some catenary wire, vine hooks and turnbuckles later, and we had a slightly industrial-looking but very sturdy solution.
It’s not the prettiest setup, but it’ll keep the tree stable while the roots establish. Over time, we’ll loosen the turnbuckles to allow a bit of movement — helping it build strength naturally.
Hopefully this gives our Tibetan Cherry the solid start it needs to thrive for years to come. ❤️🌿
