Another quality transformation completed alongside Muddy Boot's General Services

From an overgrown, uneven area to a clean, solid patio space — these before-and-after photos show the difference proper groundwork makes. The customer was over the moon with the finished result.

A lot of people think slabbing is easy and that anyone can do it, but the preparation is what separates a job that lasts from one that fails. We don’t cut corners. Every patio we install is done properly and built to last:

✔️ 100mm chalk base
✔️ Fully whacker plated and compacted
✔️ Full mortar bed to match slab thickness
✔️ Mixed properly in a cement mixer
✔️ 5:1 ratio — 5 sand to 1 cement dry mix

You’d be surprised how many slabs get laid straight onto sand. That’s not how we work.

Our pricing reflects the time, preparation, and quality that goes into every job. We’d rather over-engineer it than leave customers with problems later on.

13 panels. 13 concrete posts. Job done. 👊

We tried to run the new fence off-centre to avoid the old concrete… turns out the last lot who did the fence had the same idea. Still ended up breaking through it the hard way.

Tough job from start to finish, but no shortcuts here — straight as an arrow and built to last.

Did this alongside Muddy Boot's General Services. Such a privilege working alongside my brother and working as a team.

The customer originally wanted an extension, but after costs and planning considerations, we created a more practical solution. A bespoke side carport / sheltered storage area adding cover, and valuable usable space.

From old gates and wasted access space ➡️ to a strong, tidy timber shelter with clear roofing for natural light.

Designed as an open sheltered structure, helping avoid planning permission while still delivering the cover the customer needed.

🚨 Unsafe Chimneys Restored & Secured 🚨

These chimney stack had become very unsteady, with failing mortar joints and loose brickwork. Swipe to see the difference😆

As the one of the chimneys is still in use, we carefully retained the required 600mm above the ridge line to keep it safe and fully functional, helping prevent issues such as back smoke or carbon monoxide.

The second chimney just got brought down to ridge height of the roof as it’s no longer functioning.

Works completed:
✔ Full chimney repointing
✔ Strengthened unstable brickwork
✔ Top re-bedded and weather sealed
✔ Chimney pot securely re-bedded

Another Alteration 🧱

3 cavity lintels installed and 3 modern long window openings cut out cleanly. All prepped and ready for the window fitters to come in and finish it off🫡
Another happy customer.
Brickwork is not cleaned in after photo. This was the aftermath from the steel saw. Didn’t get a photo of after I cleaned the bricks, my apologies.

Big chimney job completed this week 🔨

Full strip down and rebuild on this one – a large, tired chimney that needed taking right back. We dismantled the stack safely, re-felted the area from the resisting chimney, re-tiled it, and finished it off by re-bedding and cementing all ridge tiles for a solid, long-lasting finish.

Another quality job done and the roof now fully secure and weatherproof.

Another job completed by BK Builds 🧱🔨

The customer no longer wanted this window, so it was bricked up externally and blocked internally, leaving a solid, tidy finish to match the existing brickwork like there was never a window there👷‍♂️

As the window sat at the bottom of a gable end, there was a lot of weight above, so Strongboys and Acrow props were used throughout. With the brick arch removed, we also installed joist hangers, allowing for a carport to be added in the future.

No shortcuts — only the best precautions taken.
