Yesterday I attended the first REX: Women in Construction event at Medicine Bakery in the Mailbox, Birmingham.

The topic of discussion was imposter syndrome, and it was reassuring to hear such open and honest conversations from women across the industry. It reminded me that no matter where we are in our careers, many of us face similar challenges and self doubt from time to time.

One of the best things about these events is the opportunity to connect with other women in construction, share experiences, and support one another. There were some great conversations and reflections on our individual journeys into the industry.

A huge thank you to Jessica Shuker for organising and hosting such a fantastic event. The supportive network she has created is incredibly valuable, and I cannot wait for the next one on 14th July.

And of course, a special mention for the pastries from Medicine Bakery. They were honestly as big as my hand and absolutely delicious! ☕🥐

If you're a woman working in construction and looking for a supportive network, I would highly recommend coming along.

📅 Tuesday 14th July
🕙 10:00am to 12:00pm

Mud, water, obstacles and a solid team effort. 🐺💪

Yesterday the Graline Construction team took on the Wolf Run in Warwickshire for a brilliant team-building day.

Plenty of laughs, plenty of mud, and a reminder that good teamwork matters just as much off site as it does on site.

Well done lads — great effort all round. 👏

Wow, what a day

The launch of Women in FMB was nothing short of incredible, an inspiring space filled with powerful women supporting each other through the highs and lows of running construction businesses and stepping confidently into leadership.

Sitting around that table, I was truly moved by the strength, resilience, and honesty shared by everyone in the room. These are the moments that remind you how important community really is.

Our discussions were beautifully facilitated by the amazing Nicky Thackray from The Power Within. It was such a dream to finally meet Nicky in person and experience her passion firsthand. During my time working with her, she challenged my mindset and introduced me to the power of motivational intelligence, something that has genuinely transformed so much for me.

A huge thank you to Nicola De Sousa for organising such a thoughtful and empowering day, and for always listening and showing up for your members.

Here’s to more spaces like this, where women lift each other up and lead the way

This one changed everything…

This project has been a full transformation, including a double storey side extension, large rear extension, new kitchen, and full renovation.

It’s always rewarding to see how a home can be completely reimagined to create more space, better flow, and a layout that works for modern family living.

From the structural work right through to the final finishes, this has been a great project to be part of, and we’re proud of how it has come together.

More space, more light, and a home that truly works for our clients.

What do you think of the transformation?

Thanks to for the beautiful video.

We’ve recently started fitting this Rotpunkt kitchen as part of our full refurbishment project in Bournville, and it has been an absolute pleasure to work with.

The quality, craftsmanship and design are clear to see in every detail, and it’s already starting to make a real statement within the project. We think you’ll agree it is looking fantastic so far, and we’re looking forward to seeing the finished result as the wider renovation continues to come together.

A big thank you to Louise Barber EH Smith Builders Merchants Shirley Kitchens & Bathrooms for sourcing the kitchen and helping bring this part of the project to life.

At Graline Construction, we take real pride in delivering high-quality workmanship and bringing carefully considered spaces together with the finish they deserve.

PROJECT UPDATE

Second fix is well underway at our Bournville renovation project, and things are really starting to come together.

The flooring is going down, the lighting is in, and the spaces are beginning to take shape. It’s always exciting when you reach this stage of a project and start to see the months of planning and groundwork turning into a finished home.

The finish line is now firmly in sight.

Keep an eye out for the full site walk through video coming soon.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending the final She Builds event in Birmingham, which felt even more special as it is International Women’s Week.

As a woman working in construction, I feel incredibly proud to be part of an industry that is evolving and creating space for more women to grow, lead, and support each other. One of the things I love most about construction is the people, the collaboration, the shared knowledge, and the opportunity to keep learning every day.

It was fantastic to meet and hear from Jessica Shields, careers coach, and learn more about the idea of give to gain. It was such a valuable reminder of how powerful it can be when we support each other and share our experiences.

A huge thank you to Jessica Shuker for all of her hard work organising these events over the past 12 months. You should be incredibly proud of the inspiring group of women you have brought together.
