π Something a little different... π
We may have been building multi-million pound houses for the rich & famous for a while now, but nothing has gotten me quite as excited as making ebony walking sticks from scratch (I'm an avid stick collector in case you hadn't guessed). π€
For those of you that don't know wood, πͺ΅ ebony is up there as one of the hardest/strongest woods on the planet, π used for piano keys and guitar fretboards alike. Unfortunately, it is now becoming extinct and near impossible to buy in raw form. π
But... We were at a wood fair last year and lo & behold, there was a "Hallelujah" π₯³π€ΈπΌββοΈ moment when we spotted a length of 4x1" nearly 900mm long nestled on the rack. A small fortune later and I was the proud owner! ππΌπΊπΌ
So after a year of it sitting in the stick stand ππΌββοΈβ³ we finally got in the workshop last week. π οΈπ
Some table sawing, tapering, routering, turning in the lathe, endless sanding, epoxy gluing for brass/ivory heads/threads & beeswax polishing... We have what resembles sticks! πππΌπ€
This makes me abnormally satisfied (for now)! WilβπΌπππΌ
