🔥 How to Bleed a Radiator (UK Guide) 🔥

If your radiator is cold at the top but warm at the bottom, it probably has trapped air inside. Don’t worry — bleeding a radiator is a quick DIY job most homeowners can handle!

Here’s a simple step-by-step guide 👇

🛠 What You’ll Need:
• Radiator key (available at most DIY stores like B&Q or Screwfix)
• Cloth or towel
• Small bowl or container

✅ Step 1: Turn Off Your Heating

Switch off your heating and let the radiators cool completely.

✅ Step 2: Find the Bleed Valve

It’s usually at the top corner of the radiator. Insert your radiator key into the square valve.

✅ Step 3: Protect the Area

Hold a cloth and bowl underneath to catch any drips.

✅ Step 4: Release the Air

Slowly turn the key anti-clockwise (about a quarter turn).
You should hear a hissing sound — that’s the trapped air escaping.

✅ Step 5: Close the Valve

Once water starts to trickle out steadily, tighten the valve back up (clockwise). Don’t overtighten!
